This prof takes teachers pet to whole new extremes. Heard the reviews that are positive come from them - the majority of students will receive average marks. The other joke about this course is that there is no textbook, so his marking is all over the place and leaves you little to support arguments about marks - he does this to cover himself!

He's genuinely concerned about the success of his students. The assessments are really straightforward, there really is no ambiguity. The most difficult concepts were made easy to understand for both economics and statistics--This is coming from someone who was terrified to take both these courses.

Good person, terrible prof. Makes silly mistakes that leads to confusions. Made a major mistake on our midterm which threw everyone off, what's worse is that before the test he told us not to ask him questions. Typos everywhere. Impatient when you talk to him in person. Doesn't answer the question when you email. Constantly late for class!

Sen was usually prepared for lectures but made a lot of errors during class which he didn't always correct. Left students unprepared for PS626 which is part 2 of the course with a different prof. Is interested in his class having a good average so he looks good, but not actually interested in his students learning. Easy A, but not a good education

One of the few nice profs in the department. Even a bad student can get an A in his course. I took his course in undergrad and it was almost exactly the same. If you want a guaranteed A take his course but if you want to learn and not be cheated out of your education then don't. This course should be a 2nd undergraduate course.

The best prof in Econ. Take a class with him if you can. He's the total opposite of some of the meaner profs in the department -- he actually wants you to do well, not fail you! He's the best.

The best prof in the Econ Department. Wants his students to do well -- very helpful. For his opposites, think Busch and Packalen.

One of the better econ profs at UW, very helpful, wants his students to do well, very informative, no use of textbook whatsoever. Tricky exams but manageable if you have the basic knowledge

Sen is the stereotypical prof in that he is extremely smart, motivational, and encourages the students to learn beyond the textbook by applying their earlier fundamental learnings of economics on real issues such as poverty and crime. His exams doesn't require a set answer. He will give you the marks if you've shown to apply logic. Amazing Prof!

This prof is fantastic! His effort towards encouraging learning and thinking outside the box is unique and refreshing. His office hours were also extrememly helpful. His exams are do-able, and there was a research paper at the end of the term. I learnt so much in his class and I definately recommend him.

Sen is one of the few professor who is actually GOOD and smart in the Econ department. He's nice guy, not arrogant and you learn something in his class. He is what a professor SHOULD be. Contrast that with Packalen and Busch and you'll see a WORLD of difference.

This professor is easily the best out there. I am not the best at Econ, its not my degree or my number 1 interest, but his class makes you want to learn. Fair grader, his final was a pain but at the end I really felt like I learnt something. Great person as well :)

Professor Sen is easily the best professor in the Econ department. He truly cares about his students (unlike Mikko Packalen and Lutz Busch who try to fail people). Sen will go out of his way to help any student. He's the BEST.
