Super smart dude who knows so much about films and is happy to share. Seek him outside of class where he will tell you all sorts of stories and factoids. Seriously, just study and go to class and you'll do fine. Not a blow off class just because it's about film and not physics.

Heres the deal, he clearly loves film and is super knowledgeable, but the classes are super boring and lecture heavy. He makes you read like 50 pages a week of pointless material. The movies he picks 2/3rds of the times will put you to sleep. Oh yeah, and the tests are super hard. Somebody remind this guy that this is a 100 level course...

Professor Hagopian is awesome, one of my favorites from my tenure at Penn State. Incredibly passionate about film and the craft. It goes without saying that you will be challenged; it's a class that's primarily aimed at film students and everything you learn will prove invaluable going forward.

I took this class as a GPA booster but it turned out to be the opposite. I planned on spending no time on this class but you will get anywhere from 30-70 pages of flat textbook reading each week with a quiz based on this material at the end of the week. I would 100% not recommend taking this class unless it is required for your major.

Taking this class was required for my major and honestly, I wish it wasn't. He is super passionate about film, 100% loves it. But the reading is quite extensive and the exams are incredibly difficult. It felt more like a graduate class than an undergrad. Not the greatest time taking the class.

Thought I would enjoy this class.... good heavens was I wrong. The amount of stress this "movie watching" course caused me was uncanny. Class ruined my GPA. When talking to another student with a different professor he said he thoroughly enjoyed the course and received an A+. Stay away from Hagopian

This class single handedly ruined my freshman year. This professor once tested "On January 18, 2018 when I called on 'so and so' what was her response to my question" I attended every lecture and did every reading, and still did horribly in this course. STAY AWAY from this professor; absolutely ruined my love for school.

If you really enjoy movies and make an effort to read the materials and consider their application to the screenings in class then you will get a lot out of this class.

If you can avoid it DO NOT take this class with Kevin. Lectures are boring, movies are bad, tests are bad (questions like "what did X (a student) say in class on this day?") and relies on readings for you to learn things. Attendance is mandatory and he loves to screw over people that don't attend class even if it's for good reasons.

If you respect yourself, you will not take this class with Dr. Hagopian. Please find another professor. Comm150 has the reputation of watching movies and talking about them, but Kevin's class is straight boring and he relies on articles for you to learn. I personally took it for an easy A, but it was more difficult to enjoy than Physics 211....

His lectures are so boring, but you can not miss the class because there might be a pop quiz. There are plenty of readings per week, and we need to discuss what you have read for two whole hours in class, which is sooooo boring. Also, he forces you to participate in class. Thus, if you did not read, you would be embarrassed.

This is by far the worst class I've taken at Penn State. The readings are way too long for no reason and his lectures are the most boring 2 hours of your life. If you skip class you will not do well in this course. If you don't have to take this course for credit I strongly advise to avoid it.

One of the best professors I've ever had. He is smart and a nice guy. The movies that he showed were some of the best I've ever seen in my life. Wants you to work hard and be dedicated to pass, regardless if your a film major or not. Lectures were discussion based which i found very interesting. Just do what he tells you and you'll be fine.

if you want an easy a-elective, do not take this course! it isn't hard, just a lot a lot of work because it focuses on extensive readings (about three assigned every week that can range from 5-50! pages) and confusing lectures (very tedious and his lecture is very theoretical and never direct. exams are the worst and movies are boring.

He's a funny guy and if you take the time to do the metric ton of work, you'll pass. However, some of the readings are up to 50 pages, and the tests are all related to them and things he says in lecture. Miss one reading? Good luck. One online quiz had a question about what a kid said in class. Sweet, passionate guy, but too much work for a Gen ed

This class is not an easy A, and if you're not interested in film the readings are brutal. Some of the movies weren't too bad, and Hagopian seems like he might be a cool guy outside of class, but as a teacher he can be hard to follow. Primarily reads off of his slides and grades toughly. Tries to screw over people who don't go to class.

I thought at first that the class wasn't as bad as others made it seem in the beginning, but it progressively got worse. He pulls from way too many readings that are extremely long and sometimes don't even pertain to class discussions, quizzes, or exams. Movies are okay, but his lectures are long and sometimes he makes up his own terms.

Never ever have I met professor like this professor. He s helpful to answer some questions. He don't reply any emails. No good grades will be received no matter what you do. He simply doesn't want his student get good grades. I never can understand why.

As a first year student kevin was one of the first professors I had at Penn State. He is so nice and approachable if you need help with anything he definitely will go out of his way to help you. I learned so much about Cinema and how to analyze movies from his class.

I get why people like him but the class is SO dependent on discussion that you only learn as much as people are willing to talk about. Also he basically segregates the class based on those willing to participate and those who can't/don't want to and as a person with social anxiety disorder that sucked ass. I late dropped because of it so be wary.
