This is a great class to take to knock out an art credit. Dr. Wicks is extremely nice. The tests are very easy. Dr. Wicks tells the class ahead of time what images will appear on the tests. The final was NOT cumulative. You do have to visit an art museum, though. I took this class as part of my honors cluster, and the additional work was minimal.

Highly recommend this class. Very easy to get a good grade just by putting a little bit of effort in. I wasn't very interested in Indian art but turned into one of my favorite classes. Attendance is very important and the lectures basically tell you want will be on the exams.

Prof Wicks is a really nice older lady who is super passionate about her job and grades very easy. However, she's super flighty and scatterbrained, and wastes a lot of class time on stories and forgetting what she is going to say next. Very, very easy class, very crazy prof

Textbook? That thing you spent $200 on and never use? She often never gets around to explaining things. She passes about a laser pointer, asks for explanations, often responds "Oh, I never thought of it like that..." then moves on without explaining what she expects you to know. Had to take these two classes for my JPN major, and I hated it.

One of the most pointless classes I've taken. She only talks about 2-6 pieces a day and can't answer questions because she doesn't know what she is talking about. Frequently forgets things about the work and likes to make you point out things with the pointer that she JUST pointed out. Her class is like watching Blues Clues, but less interesting.

She is good at knowing what to teach you without getting too in depth. If you miss five class, you will be dropped. Paper and HW graded loosely. If you think this class is hard, you shouldn't be in college. If you get 66 on all the exams, you will still have B as your final grade if you got full points in everything else. Take this class.

Excellent course! I recommend it. The # of textbooks could be reduced (there's an expensive book on Japanese Art). There were over 100 slides to memorize for the final, the Japanese names are confusing BUT if you really study you'll do very well. The research paper is 25% of the grade. so write a hell of a good paper, with no less than 5 pages.

Do not take class unless you are asian. The names of the artwork are near impossible to remember for the test and so much material to learn for exam. take another art history class because this one is horrible if you aren't familiar with chinese, japanese, and korean language. you never use textbook so don't buy it. avoid class if possible.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! My first course with Dr. Wicks and I learned A LOT!!! Do the readings, be prepared for in-class assignments, study for the exams and you will do fine. If you don't come to class you will miss a lot. Great images, fascinating course.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. I had to take her class for the Miami Plan and I really don't like art, but this class was extremely easy. If you show up to class you will easily get an A. She is also very friendly and easy to talk to. I highly recommend her to everyone.

Dr. Wicks is fabulous. I had no interest in Indian Art but it turned into being something much more exciting than just looking at art work. Buddhism and Hinduism were discussed and I thoroughly enjoyed going to class. Her tests are fairly easy and the homework is straight out of the book. Definitely take this class.

Ann Wicks is fabulous. She is enthusiast about her subject. The tests are easy as long as you study the slides and attend class. Attendance is mandatory. She does require museum trips and papers. She grades them very liberally. Almost everyone got an A. Easy class to boost your GPA.

Dr. Wicks is a great prof! She loves her subject and is very passionate about it. If you do the reading and the assignments, and go to class you should get a relatively easy A. Also, be sure to study slides for exams! And if offered, go to class outings, it's always good to know your prof.

Dr. Wicks lives on her own planet, but I enjoyed this class. The material was really interesting, and she has a lot of knowledge about the topic. She takes attendence in a 250+ person class, which is crazy...but so is she. Tests covered the readings that you do, and slides you memorize. Pretty basic.

You have to go to class bc attendance is taken, even though the class is like huge. The first exam was easy, but the second exam was a lot harder than i expected it to be. She doesn't really care if you do that well. Memorizing the dynasties starts to get really confusing. Not a bad class for miami plan fine arts, but probably better ones.
