Dr. Gossage is extremely passionate about her work. She takes attendance every class and WILL fail you if you miss more than what the syllabus says. This is a Shakespeare class, and while the material can be a little boring, she makes it as fun as possible.

To keep things positive, Anne Gossage was a professor that I wish would make that connection with her students. Her words my freshman year were very hurtful and embarrassing. I won't go into detail, but please always speak up and stay positive when doing so.

You'll definitely have to do the readings assigned to you unless you can find a shmoop summary. She teaches over really interesting literature and has a lot of insightful things to say about the content in her classes. Not a very tough grader and is very kind and understanding if you're honest and show a genuine effort. Open Book tests!

Do not take her. Avoid. I am a straight A student and will be lucky to leave with a C in a basic English class. Do not take her. She is rude, condescending, and passive aggressive to her students. If you ask her a question (she can be unclear about assignments, lecture, etc), she will give you attitude. I could write a paper on why not to take her.

Dr. Gossage can be a tough grader, but she clearly outlines what she expects from each assignment. As long as you are organized, follow the assignment sheet, you will pass. She was so understanding with me missing for family illness, and will meet outside of office hours to help you. Attendance is mandatory, and classes are rarely cancelled.

This is literally one of my favorite professors in the English department, but she is a love or hate professor from what I can tell. She is tough and will make you wrk for your grade but is also open to helping you or giving you more time on a paper if needed. PLEASE TAKE AT SOME POINT!!

Dr. Gossage is phenomenal! She knows what she's talking about. This was the second time I took Shakespeare (the first round was with a different instructor), and she really made it easier to understand. She is challenging; she demands your attendance, attention, participation, and hard work. As long as you take notes and read, though, you're good.

I took her for English Lit I. Her lectures are helpful. For the love of God, take notes. Tests are unpredictable, don't expect to get your tests or papers back within a month. Don't ask questions, she is a touch condescending. Just mirror her opinions on the essays on the tests. You'll be fine. She's a very nice lady but a tough professor.

If you are an abstract thinker, I wouldn't advise taking her classes. I am very abstract and she couldn't understand me very well and vice versa. I asked her a question in class once and the other people had to basically translate for me for her to understand. She is good for realistic thinkers.

Dr. Gossage is a wonderful professor. I wouldn't recommend her for lower level ENG classes as she prefers her upper level classes more. She grades papers hard, but is very lenient on everything else. Also, she is more than willing to help you and makes a point to see all of her students privately in her office at least once a semester. Great lady.

I love Dr. Gossage! She is so helpful and knows so much about Shakespeare. I actually took this course with a different professor and hated it because of how rigid his grading and attendance policy was. Dr. Gossage is pretty liniment when it comes to attendance and will let you catch up on some assignments. She does grade hard on papers, though.

i absolutely abhor this woman. this class actually made me dislike shakespeare. her directions on papers is inconsistent and unreasonable. as a shakespeare scholar, she does a poor job of making her students like the bard. do not take her at any cost. i have done all the major assignments and will still probably get a C or D at best.

A student's #1 nightmare!When we wrote our final paper,I was asked 2 go 2 the Noel center by her.I went until they couldn't find anything wrong w/ my paper.They told me that my paper was REALLY good and that they couldn't find any mistakes.Gossage didn't like it & gave me a D on it when I was told by other Eng Majors that they would give me an A.

Worst "professor" I have ever taken at EKU. She constantly writes condescending and sarcastic remarks on student papers and taunts them for their shortcomings. She has a primary background in Shakespearean literature and knows little about other styles of writing. I hope no one else is forced to suffer through one of her classes. Avoid at all costs.

Dr. Gossage is RIDICULOUS! She can not explain what she wants from her assignments, she is late to her SCHEDULED meetings with students, and she belittles every student in her class. What kind of professor writes "LAME" on a paper? If you are an "A" student you will be lucky to leave with a "C". She is the worst professor I have had.

you spend 6 hours on a paper and she rips your paper to shreds, & doesnt explain anything. She is very opinionated. I went to her office, she was 30mins late, & i over heard her say to another prof. "I gave a student a 0 cause i didnt like her topic"... does that sound like a good teacher, absolutely not. she is psychotic!! do not take her class!!

To describe this class I will say I am a junior in college and this is my first C. We had 1 essay and 2 exams and class participations so if you mess up on any of them you are screwed! She grades really hard and if she doesn't agree with your thesis you might as well burn your paper. I would not recommend.

Gossage is a bit odd. She has class discussions over the assigned text, so make sure you read it. She is very critical on grading papers and absolutely hates it when you talk while she is talking. She is goofy, and tries to make jokes about everything. She is kind of annoying. If you ask for help, make sure you understand what you are asking
