I would go out of my way to find alternative classes that count towards Art History credits, that aren't taught by Dr. Anne Koval

Anne is great. She's always kind and understanding. Very flexible as long as you don't take advantage of her! She is very insightful and really changed the way I think about art history and bigger social issues in the world. I recommend her. She'll really make you think if you pay attention!

I loved all of her classes! She is easily one of my favourite profs.. She really cares about seeing her students succeed, her grading is fair, and her lectures are always full of interesting content. It is really great to be taught by a prof that is genuinely passionate about her field. I didn't even like art history all that much before Anne.

Her art history exams can be tough if you aren't good at rote memorisation (you'll be memorising years and artist more than theory and broad movements, generally, just because that's where the marks come from.) Lectures are largely textbook based, so not that necessary, but a nice supplement.

Love her! People complain about her intro classes (which are hard work, get over it!), but her upper level classes are fantastic. She's very enthusiastic and an extremely competent educator. Her assignments are rewarding for the students and engaging.

Fantastic course, as long as you're interested in the subject. She really subscribes to the "learning for the sake of learning" philosophy, which is admirable but impractical for students balancing four other courses. I would recommend this course if you have the time for it; you really need to keep up with the subject, or you won't do well.

Love her! She is very interesting and extremely knowledgeable. So sometimes she can't pronounce particular prehistoric titles? She is an EXPERT in 19th century to present. She gets too much grief for her survey classes, trust me her upper level courses are awesome!

She's a nice lady (as long as you don't talk in class), but while studying I discovered that the facts that she stated in her lecture and the facts in the text book do not match up - and in some cases are the opposite. I'm not sure why because she seems to be really knoweldgeable...maybe because she seems to get a bit flustered at times?

Hated this class. So much pointless studying especially when learning can be done in other, more efficient ways (ie more assignments, etc.) I love Art although I'm a Science student but I did not enjoy this class at all. Do not take this course as an elective if you don't plan on majoring in Fine Arts.

I loved Anne classes! I was an art history major so I got to know her fairly well. Sure there is a lot to remember - but that's like any history class. Her midterms were pretty easy, basically compairing 2 differents pieces of art from different time periods, You didn't have to know exact dates, but a basic idea of what century and time period.

The class was very interesting and the classes tended to go by fast. However, the memorizing of slides was absolutely ridiculous. You have to study so many things about each one - about 80 slides - and only tested on 5. It's crazy stressful.

Again, if you're interested, this class will be really fun. It's a lot of material, and a lot of memorization, but you learn a lot of fascinating tidbits. Koval can't pronouce ANYTHING, and it's most amusing. She's a bit spacey, but is there to help, and will be glad to do so. She's a fair, and resonable marker.

The room (womb) is against her. If you don't have a great interest in Art History then you probably won't do very well. You study hundreds of slides, but in the end only need to know a few, so the tests are really unbalanced.

Well, what can I say? I thought she was nice, but, ummmm, --incredibly moody, as it seems all the art profs here are. What's up wit that? I thought artist were supposed to be nice and laid back.

If you have an interest in the subject, its a great course to take. She's a very fair marker. If you dont know a slide on the test, write something. You'll still get partial credit.
