Comment:

I respect the old style of teaching; make the students learn by NOT spoonfeeding them. That being said, I will never take a class with her again. Instructors are NOT there to punish students for making a mistake, which Scoot seems to have no problem doing. Spelling is important, but to lose a whole grade point over it? Come on, grade me on ability!

She does the lab portion of the midterm... and she is the worst. The Lab portion of our Biochem midterm was the equivalent to a slaughterhouse. Its worth 25% of the total grade... and you better know your spelling or else you dont get full marks for a question... She is awful! a lot of people with high grades going in got B's and B+'s

Great professor. She has the most thorough and straight-forward explanations for the questions you bring up to her. She hates laziness and is not afraid to call people on it when they ask idiotic questions and, I suppose, this comes across as her being evil. However, she was fantastic with the lab portion. I really enjoyed her

Dr. Scoot is a difficult marker. She's a great teacher though. Her notes are very coherent, and everything you need to know is there. If you go to every class and really pay attention, and practice your buffering problems, memorize every structure, and memorize the lab manual, you'll do awesome. It's a tough course...don't expect to fly through it!

Our biochem exam has been marked, and I literally cannot BELIEVE my mark on her lab exam section! For 3 of the long answer questions, i got 0, yes 0 marks for my somewhat correct explanation!! Her rubric? Take off marks for WRONG information, so if your answer is correct, but you added something incorrect, you can literally not get ANY mark!

HAHA nice person?? "YEAH RITE!!!!!".. she pratically shut the door in my FACE!!!!!!!!!!! on a personal level she is a very bitter and sarcastic being. She likes to make her students feel inferior and miserable inside. Her exams are fair though... since most of the questions were repeats from old exams

Students misunderstand Dr. Scoot. Yes, her lab section on the final can be difficult, but as a person, she is wonderful. Go ask her a question and she will be more than happy to help you out and may even give you hints as to which sections to "focus" on! People just equate difficulty with being a mean or bad prof. Definately not the case!

An okay lady if you don't mind the sarcasm. And don't ask questions in class, she'll probably make you feel bad. Just go to her office hours and as long as you are prepared and not retarded (which you shouldn't be if you are in this course) then she'll be nice. Don't think she takes the prof/course evaluations as too much of a threat.

Most comments here are fairly accurate. I remember one time in class she told a student to "read the text book" if they wanted an answer, and would not answer it in class. So I can see how people think she is rude. HOWEVER, if you do go see her after class in her office she is much more approachable. Remember BE NICE..otherwise......

K, all i have to say is ANAL, ANAL, ANAL! and so on and so forth. She's not someone who smiles much, intimidating to talk to, don't ever act stupid in front of her or even act lazy she'll shoot u down. Crazy hard marker, MEMORIZE the lab manual.

She's only rude if you ask stupid questions. If you have a problem, just approach her after class in her office and make sure you're prepared: then she's really nice. So long as you memorize the lab manual well in advance of the final, it's fine. Procrastinate and you're screwed, you can't study the night before. She marks REALLY hard though.
