In theory, this class should have been easy. All you have to do is read and write about the books. The subject was super easy. However, with the amount of stuff you have to do at HC, you will probably fall behind on the reading and feel like an idiot in class. If you fall behind, it's hard to catch up to write the papers because they use many books

Comment:

Fr. Kuzniewski's History of Holy Cross is a must for History majors. This is the second seminar I have had with him and I got out a lot out of the class. You read a book each week and then in class discuss the book. It's all about respect with Fr. K. If you show it to him, he'll give it back. He also has some great stories.

This class involves a lot of reading, but most of the books are very interesting. He tends to favor the boy athletes and discussions are often boring. His grading for the 3, 6-8 page papers is difficult but manageable once you understand what he expects. He unfairly grades the final paper worth 40% based on whether or not your citations are correct

Comment:

First, wait until senior year to take this class (no final exam for graduating seniors). There is a lot of reading, but you can avoid doing it all by taking careful class notes. His exams are EXTREMELY knit-picky, so beware (listen for mundane/ridiculous facts during lectures.) Overall, it was fun, interesting, and enjoyable. Tough grader.

I didn't like having to read a book a week, and if we didn't read a book, it was write a 6-8 page essay in a week. In the end for the research paper, all he cared about was that the sources were cited correctly! And I got an A on that, worth 40% of final! Good thing is that there is no final exam, just the research paper.

Fr. K is a great professor. He is a really nice guy and if you do the work the class is not hard. It is usually read a book each week and write three 6-8 page papers and then a final research paper. He is incredibly intelligent and I would recommend taking him. You will learn a lot.

He either loves you or hates you (tends to favor the athletes that are good). He once corrected a girl in front of the whole class after her presentation. Sometimes he doesn't even listen to you when speaking. Office hours were not helpful whatsoever. Boring dull class that I got nothing out of. Waste of time.

Easily the best class I've had at Holy Cross. If I had Father K as a freshman, I would be a history major. the readings are enjoyable, he's a riot in class, but the class goes by slowly. Exams are long but really easy, though the research paper was a lot of work. It should be required to take Father K before graduation.

This class started out as my hardest class this semester. I'd never had Fr. K before and wasn't so sure of the material. However, I put some time into it and really thought about the readings and everything and ended up having an overall very positive experience! Would definitely take Fr. K again!

I took 2 of his classes. I am a girl and he treated me just fine. He is a great professor, an inspiration and I welcomed his remarks about my papers because he made me a better writer which came in handy in all my other classes. You can tell he really cares about his students, does his best to make class fun. A great, great man!

The best teacher I had at HC. Without him I would not have survived, or been abloe to write. My first paper he destroyed(C-), but it helped me in the long run because he worked with me to write better. He took the time to work with me and make me better. His critism made me stronger.

Took some time to get used to him... he's pretty set in his ways and if you suck he's not afraid to tell you. By the end I loved him and found him pretty amusing (he knows so much about HC). Got an a- in the class (and I'm a girl, so disregard everything about him hating girls)
