Had her for advanced grammar. Made us teach ourselves the material and do homework first. Then sort of reviewed it in class the next time. Anytime I had a question, she would refer me back to my textbook. Very nice person, but terrible professor.

She was a good professor, however most assignments were sort of unclear. There were mandatory events that were uninteresting in a way. Overall, the class was pretty smooth. Participate, pretend to be intrigued, and study well for the exams and everything will be fine. She is very friendly!

I don't understand when people say they don't like her. She has been there for me since day 1 when I added a Spanish major. She always helps me out. Her classes aren't the easiest but Spanish in general is difficult IMO. I take her classes every opportunity I get. If you reach out to her, she will help you get the best grade possible.

I should have passed this class, but I would come to the exams and not be ready since I didn't study. So of course I did bad. She's a great professor she always offers help. Do the reading and speak Spanish you'll enjoy the class. Feel free to annoy her by saying spanish slang. She would tell me not to use it lol or it confuses the other students.

She is very enthusiastic about what she teaches and seems friendly,but can be tough when it comes to grading. Definitely need to participate in class-in Spanish of course-she doesn't allow English and will deduct from your grade. In her grammar classes,expect to teach yourself the material. Hard to reach outside of class! Doesn't post work on time.

Sweet professor but very tough. Tests are very difficult. Teaches in a very fast pace. There is really no time for review. You basically have to re-teach yourself the material at home. If you get her as an adviser, good luck trying to get a hold of her!

Her class is not easy, but as long as you try your best, she definitely acknowledges that. I loved the class, and I understood her very easily. She speaks very clear Spanish and she does speak slowly- but it is advanced level. Grades fair, very sweet. I would recommend her!!

I learned a lot & she is a very intelligent professor. The class is all in spanish, so make sure you can understand. The tests are fairly hard, but if you study you'll do fine. And if you do poorly, she'll help you boost your grade. I recommend this course/her, just make sure you now spanish. This is NOT an intro course!!

She is an awsome professor with a nice spanish accent, which is very easy to understand. You cant take her class if you are not very well at spanish. take hernandez first. She grades very fairly, if you do the work. DUH!

She tends to speak extremely fast. She is not understanding of your outside commitments to work, other classes...nothing! She only points out your flaws. She is not a good teacher for actually teaching the language. Having discussions and sharing your ideas and opinions are more her style. She has little pactience for someone who is new to Spanish.

This was the worst Spanish class i have ever taken. Prof. Hertel single handedly ruined my interest in pursuing the language. There is no encouragement, no extra help, no simpathy for people who can not speak spanish or understand her very fast speed of talking. The exams are impossible. My deepest sympathies to anyone who has her.

I understood her Spanish fine. Her exams were impossible to do well on and I would study so hard (I always got As in my other Spanish classes). She is very nice and bubbly, but she did a terrible job teaching this class. Don't expect positive feedback or encouragement from her either. do not take her unless you are spanish. she does not help you; if you don't know what she's saying and ask for help, she "helps" you by spanish! i was lost all semester and learned nothing. one good thing- if u have no clue whats going on she really doesn't ever call on you or speak to you.

She is such a great teacher! She will help you learn how to speak Spanish. If you make a honest effort in her class and particpate, you'll do fine. She is always available for help. Definitely take her!
