Comment:
Arianne is a nice person, but the class is way more work than it needs to be. For a 100 level class, they teach it like a 400 level major specific class. As someone who was already interested and well versed in feminism, I thought I would enjoy the class, but the papers are long and quizzes (although they are a large % of the grade) don't exist.

Dr. Burford is very mean and downright rude. I tried to do research and she wanted nothing to to do with helping me. She is not very professional and she treated me like a dirty Mexican. It is sad because she grew up in the barrio and now thinks she is too good to interact with barrio people. She could have been a true professional and did the righ

Simply put- it's a boring class taught by a teacher who isn't qualified to teach 3rd grade. If you can, avoid WS200 and Burford.

Very biased, don't get on her bad side! I thought I was a feminist but she takes it to another level. If you're a lesbian or a socialist, you will get along very well with her. She's very into current events and talks about it a lot in class which is cool, but it often takes up too much time and we don't get to talk about the stuff on the test.

No text book, but a lot of E-reserves readings that you MUST do (in class quizzes daily based on the readings). Pretty easy class though, just do good on the midterm and final (both pretty easy if you did the readings throughout the semester). She can get too personal sometimes but only because she is very passionate about her class.

Discussion based class. Expect a lot of reading (it's almost overwhelming the first couple weeks of class then settles down). I still don't even know what Women's Studies really is but the class was interesting.

Arianne is an exceptionally hardworking and intelligent woman; she's extremely openminded and still younger than most professors so she really knows how to relate to her students. Her expectations are high, but you become a better student and writer because of it. Subject matter=diverse/interesting. Expect to not only work, but to enjoy yourself!

I have had Arianne twice now and she is a wonderful instructor. I purposely took a summer class with her just because she was teaching it, even thought the subject matter did not interest me that much. She is a firm teacher and has high expectations, but she is also very empathetic towards students. If you can keep up with the readings and expres

Being an older, returning student, I can honestly say that Professor Burford is one of the best instructors I have ever had. She is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and uses a variety of teaching methods that make the material accessible and interesting. I would take any class that she is teaching.

Her english class was BY FAR my most favorite class last year. Some people may think English classes are all about essay writing, but her class was more about critical thinking...and for that I LOVED IT! She is an EXTREMELY passionate teacher and willing to help whether it's day or night. Consider having her as your teacher a priviledge...

She has been one of the most inspirational professors I have ever had. Not only did she motivate me but she also encouraged me to continue with my writing. Her classes are always interesting and her assignments were fun. She always left room for creativity. I've never had such a positive experience in class before. I'd recommend her to anyone.

Arianne is perhaps the most insightful, motivating professors that I have ever had the pleasure of studying under during the time I have spent at the University. Her passion for the subject matter is only rivaled by her ability to relate to her students.

I had her for Honors English. Really nice teacher. Has a great attitude every class (even in the early morning). I recommend you meet with her outside class to discuss your writing b/c she is pretty vague with her essay requirements. Some of her classes are boring from time to time.

So this woman is the biggest feminist you will ever meet. She'll give you a bad grade if you don't mention women's rights and stuff, regardless of the topic. She seems like she's never sure of what she's saying, and she does this weird stare thing when you talk to her. Bad teacher.
