Comment:

I've had him for both Linear Algebra 1 and 2 (I got an A+ in MATH2301), and he was good for both courses. He is a super nice guy and is more than willing to help you understand material. His notes on the board can get pretty scattered, so be sure you're paying attention. Make sure you do the homework and you really shouldn't have too much trouble.

Comment:

Solid prof. He's a nice guy and is very excited about teaching. His quizzes each week are simple enough if you study. The workshops are challenging and will take you the full recitation to do, but they done in groups so it balances out the difficulty. He's scattered during lectures, best bet is to mainly listen in class and do all the homework.

horrible prof. written examples on the board are illegible. Tells you to study section 5.1, 5.2, 5.3-- tests you only on the hardest q's from 5.3... Not a fair prof. Will laugh at you if you ask questions in office hours. clearly doesn't care about students.

Pros: - Very approachable - Always available (especially by email) - Enthusiastic Cons: - Note taking is incoherent at best. - He is incapable of using jargon in his lectures. - Workshops cover material not found in the assigned problems. - Exams and workshops are far too long for the time provided. He doesn't time himself when preparing them.

Comment:

Linear Algebra I and II were the toughest classes I've ever taken. Mountains of homework, but it's all relevant preparation for the midterms and final. Stay on top of it. Tests are huge. Know your stuff, and be able to do it quickly. Very open to students having trouble (like me). Thank god he's an easy marker.

I just love him!!!! He is always happy, and he is very excited about what he teaches, making the material, which is already interesting, even more exciting!! Even when I'm having a bad day, his lectures cheer me up and make me giggly :) He reminds you of the pure joy of learning, and you wouldn't even care about the mark :) My favorite professor <3

He's an incredibly jolly guy. He gets excited about linear algebra when he teaches. Laughs at himself a lot. His examples in class can seem a bit scattered though. His quizzes are difficult because they're one material he hasn't given a lecture on yet, but you work in groups and open book. His midterms and finals are very straight forward.

Dr. Fnibow is all over the place. The lectures, assignments and recitations are all on different topics. The recitations are group quizes on material not done in class or in the lectures. I can only assume this is ment to test your problem solving ability (not the objective of the course); however, Dr. Finbow was unable to explain his rationale.

Jumps around on the board far too often. Tries to use different colours to make it easy to follow but they all end up blending. Mumbles a lot and the final exam is WAY too hard for the course. Know your limits as a math student (haha, get it?).

Energetic prof who obviously loves math. He tends to make notes here and there on the board, but as long as you pay attention, it's not too bad. His assignments and especially tests can be challenging (but he's very willing to help you during office hours).

I must say that he is very nice and very eager to help. He obviously knows his stuff but his jumpy style can make it hard to learn sometimes. He kinda teaches all over the map, makes dumb jokes, his office is a war zone & he has a tendancy to lose things, like assignments you might need to study later on. Some like hime... some don't.

Finbow is a pretty good teacher, although he can sometimes seem like he is all over the place. He tends to jump from subject to subject a lot, but if you read through your notes with the textbook you are fine. Also his midterm is was very fair! And he makes jokes during class to keep us awake!
