Ok, seriously, if you take this guy and don't love him by the end of the semester you need your head examined. Doc Smith is not only the best prof at WCU but also an amazing person who genuinely cares about his students. do yourself a favor and take him before he retires!

Take Doc Smith when you have the chance. Easy going guy, even easier professor, but at the same time, is very knowledgeable and wants you to succeed. Has great stories that he'll share when appropriate. He does take attendance but I had him for two different classes and we never stayed the entire time-get your work done and you can go.

Comment:

Dr. Smith is hands down the best professor I've had at WCU. Makes the subject matter interesting, relating the topics to current events or events from history. Hilarious, friendly, seems to care about his students. Only 2 take home exams all semester. He has high expectations for them, but still straightforward. Wish he taught all of my classes.

Super nice. Has a sign in sheet so at least write your name down if you plan to leave. His lestures are always funny. Super glad I took this as a science gen ed. Our final and midterm were take home exams (as in take home I mean 4 questions). textbook is not necessary, if you at least take notes you'll pass.

Probably the best professor I've ever had. Dr. Smith has so much wisdom trapped in his brain, he can't help but let it out and spread it to his class. His lectures are interesting, as he makes everything relate-able. He has high expectations for his tests and lab activities, but he makes clear what they are and will help you along the way. Amazing.

Seriously if you have the opportunity to take this class take it. He's really good at teaching, labs are quick and usually pretty fun, and it's an overall good class. I had him from 4:30pm-5:20pm tues and thurs and then 6pm-8pm and I would still take it again. He gives clear feedback and he's just a good professor in general.

Dr. Smith is my favorite professor at this school. His lectures are pretty simple and he often times will stray "off-topic" and relate the current lesson to an event in history which is honestly really interesting when he does. The guy loves to make jokes and is super friendly. Great guy, wish I could take the class again! TAKE THIS CLASS! EASY!

Dr. Smith is a great teacher. I had to fulfill a science requirement so I took Intro Geology. Being an art major, I had no interest in the class, but I am so glad I took it! He make the subject matter interesting and easy to understand. He is beyond helpful. Take him before he retires. Geology rocks and so does Dr. Smith!!

Hands down the best professor I've ever had at West Chester. I had no interest in geology and was dreading taking this class and he completely changed my mind. He made the not so interesting curriculum SO interesting and related it to real life. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. He is also so funny! Take him!

Dr. Smith is awesome and I highly recommend taking him. He is very knowledgeable and has tons of stories and examples to support the curriculum. He also taught me so many other aspects of teaching that will be very beneficial in the future. You can get by without purchasing the 2 textbooks, we barely used them.

Obsessed with his class. I completely hate west Chester university and after taking Dr. Smith's class I have done a 180. He reminded me why I want to be a teacher again after the past year of hell at this horrible school, with a lot of awful teachers (which is ironic). I wish I had him for every class, literally the smartest man alive!
