For some reason, the culture around Temple is to be disrespectful and rude to Mr. C. He does not tolerate disrespect. He also does not tolerate unprofessional conduct from students. As long as you can demonstrate those two qualities, and you are reliable and proficient on your instrument, there will be no problem at all with him.

He placed me like last seat 2nd clarinet. I had an opportunity in NY for a performance of an orchestral piece... he would not let me out of a BS concert. Well, HA HA. I went on to become a critically acclaimed clarinetist and composer, and formed my own orchestra. AND I always just happen to leave Temple off my resume.

I had him for intermediate conducting and although his system of teaching conducting is very mathematical and book-oriented, I still learned a loot about conducting from him. He is also my adviser and incredibly kind. Most students I know dislike him because they have had him as a band conductor, but really, as a person and prof, he is great.

There seem to be a number of negative ratings on here, so I guess I'm one of the few who had only positive experiences with this guy. As a result of studying with Mr. Chodoroff, I learned a lot about instrumental instruction and greatly improved my instrumental conducting and score study. Sorry to hear everyone else's bad experiences!

I won't go into details because then he'll know who this is, but I had a very bad experience with him due to WIND SYMPHONY REHEARSAL!!! Prof. Chodoroff is one of the best teachers I have had. He is tough, but because of this, I learned a lot in his woodwind and conducting classes, and his ensembles are top notch.

This individual is a testament to the abolishment of tenure. The most egotistical, self-centered, dis-honest, incompitent prof I have ever encountered during my colligate career. He doesn't like you if you don't kiss up to him. Also frustrated about his lack of musical proficiency, and takes this frustration out on the students. He is a grumpy old man who plays favorites. 300 charachters is not enough to describe how much he offsets the balance in the Temple music program.
