I am a freshmen who wants a Meteorology major. Dr. Peyreitte was a awesome professor! The one think I did not like was nothing was posted on blackboard. You take notes and the tests are everything in your notes!! :) Attendance is mandatory if you want the notes.

Honestly the nicest teacher I have ever had. He writes notes on the board and gives you plenty of time to write them down. He shows you old tests before exams, and is very helpful. If you pay attention this class is a breeze, don't know how it could be difficult. He gives you more than enough information to understand things.

This was a pretty hard class for a UP but worth the time because you didn't have a separate lab time. He usually dismissed the class early, which was nice and he always had ice cream to eat during the break. Ashton was a nice professor, but if you take the class in the fall, be prepared to attend class the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Peyrefitte is extremely nice and caring. He told us on the first day of class to not even bother buying the textbook. He speaks and writes slow so everyone has a chance to catch all of the notes. He gave us countless extra credit points and always asked us if the exam questions were fair. Cannot say enough about him and wish I was having him again.

This class is only difficult if you don't take and study notes. Otherwise, it is pretty easy. I don't know where people get the idea that it is hard. Recommended as a UP. The Professor is extremely nice and easy. All his exams are based on lecture and notes and he is very helpful. Gives tons of extra credit. Awesome Professor.

Extremely Nice professor, teaches slower since he is a pretty old guy. Very educated professor as well. Class is relatively easy just go to class, take notes, and study for exams and you'll do just fine.

Hard class for a UP, but Prof Peyrefitte was such a helpful sweet guy! Not many assignments, just 4 exams. Exams are hard but he offers some extra credit at the end of the semester. This class counts for a lab w/o having separate lab class which is convenient. He also took the whole class to dinner at bdubs once.

I was lucky enough to have Ashton as a professor while obtaining my meteorology degree at U of Utah in the late 70's. He could explain things more clearly than any prof I've had. I believe he was working on his PhD then. I've always wondered where he ended up. Great professor and a great person back then.

Hes so caring and genuine but if your not a MET major DO NOT take this class as a UP,its very difficult.I have a 3.0gpa and got a D in this class(ive never got below a C in my life)most of my class failed a large majority of the exams.only reason i passed was due to the large amount of extra credit at the end, as he didnt want to fail anybody.

This is the sweetest man that I have had as a teacher. He really cares about his students and will help you anyway he can. There's four total exams and he goes over a previous test the period before. He gives you a huge study guide. Don't buy the textbook. Everything is from the notes.

I am a Meteorology major and Dr. Peyrefitte is the genious of all professors at CMU! and my adviser as well. Him and I talk on a regular basis about hazardous weather situations, and it's great. He's very knowledgeable of what he does. He's polite, helpful, and I highly recommend taking a class with him

Dr. Peyrefitte is a great meteorologist and professor. Even if you know a lot about the weather you will learn a lot of new material after the first test. He also holds a current weather discussion/class for meteorology majors which is incredibly informative and enlightening. Unless you totally slack off you will not regret taking this class

He will tell you not to buy the book, don't. Easiest class at CMU yet many people manage to fail it. Go to class, take notes, and do the study guides and you should get an A. Great professor, kinda boring but worth taking.

Ashton could not be a more caring and helpful professor. I have never met a man more knowledgeable and more devoted to a field of study in my life. He's been almost everywhere and has given so much of his time and money to this program. I may never have another mentor as great as him, but I highly recommend taking this class before he retires.

This prof. is a really nice guy, but after taking this class I decided Meteorology wasn't for me. He's just too monotone and the lectures are way too boring to follow. He's helpful and knows a lot. Make sure you come to class and take notes, otherwise you're pretty much screwed.

A really nice professor - he's really laid back and easy to talk to. The class was really easy. As long as you pay attention and take notes and study for a 1/2 hour or so, you'll do fine on the exams.
