I also took Econ 4400 in 2016 with Akbari. I thought he was an excellent professor. I learned a lot more in his course than in any other course in the program. His course helped me a lot in the graduate program I am taking in Ontario.

He is the worst prof there is. He doesn't explain well, and thinks too highly of himself...

The last comment uses abusive language. Just because you did not do well in his course does not mean there is something wrong with the professor. Getting A+s in other courses does not mean anything. Econ 4400is an advance theory course and it is hard. See comments posted by some others which are very positive and so is mine.

Akbari should be fired by the school. Doesn't deserve the hard earned money students pay to support his salary. His intelletual arrogance is his only friend & soulmate in world. Despite an A+ CGPA, I thought I can be stumped by this idiot. His repeated mistakes in solutions & cluelessness while writing r handsome indicators of his mental health.

I used to hate economics, but this prof made me love it! Very inspirational lecturer, and he has an engaging teaching style. Office hours are super helpful, and while assignments and exams are tough, if you follow his class notes you can do very well in this course. 10 out of 10, would take again!!

I do not think Akbari taught Eco 2144 in the Summer. We do not even have that course at our school. As far as I know he was not here in Summer. He is an excellent prof from whom I have learned a lot. I would like to have him again as my prof.

Professor Ather Akbari is very rude. I asked him what is the course code by email, he gave me the wrong code. When I ask him in person, it seems all my fault. His exams are a lot harder than the exercises from the textbook. I took his class during the summer. Avoid at any cost!

Professor Akbari is wonderful. At first I thought him unapproachable then I actually tried to approach him and realized I was wrong. He is helpful during office hours and very friendly. He expects students to put full effort and as a result, those who try gain a solid understanding of the subject.

Dr. Akbari is a great professor. I have taken him for three courses at SMU and I have managed A-range in all 3. The material can be tricky/tough at times but his courses are very manageable if you give it some effort and take good notes. He is quite funny to boot! He is very friendly and is often willing to help after class or at his office.

Comment:
Dr. Akbari is a very learned man. An excellent professor who makes the course interesting by relating the lecture materials with day-to-day events. I am really enjoying his class. The person who has written a negative remark about him is biased. Some people ask questions in class that show their immaturity. They should not be in a university
