Comment:
Avoid at all costs and take Keith Smith instead. Odeleye is generally discourteous to his students. He knows his stuff, but is so unpleasant to work with that many students ask the shop techs for help instead. He only gives good grades to art that fits his personal aesthetics and tends to dislike representational art often calling it "uncreative".

He is a very hard professor, if you are looking for an easy, lazy A, DO NOT take him. Otherwise, if you are actually in college to learn and get your monies worth, you can learn so much from this man. He is very knowledgable about his trade and more. He does have testsquizzes but they are straight from the book. You do actually have to work hard.

If you are serious about becoming a professional artist, Professor O is the man to take. He is extremely difficult, but his class is a vicarious experience into how art critics will respond to you if you know your stuff or are a sham. If you apply creativity and confidence you WILL walk away a better artist. He is a living sculptural master.

Loves the sound of his own voice. If you meet all of his criteria, you get a C. In order to get higher, you have to somehow shoot way past his impossible standards. I had to beg for help. I would ask him for help on using studio equipment multiple times before I just gave up and asked the shop techs. They helped me more than he did.

As far as art professors go Odeleye is harsh. Blunt as can be, grades projects not on effort but of his idea of 'creativity'. He talks very repetitively (you will hear the same things about 100 times over), he lectures on life, some call this "motivating" I find it to be very subjective. I honestly would not recommend taking him

He may have made his success in the arts, but he is trash as a professor. he has tenure so his disrespects everyone. He is so high up on his pedestal that he can only hear himself, and your words mean nothing to him.

Don't waste your time with this professor, because that is exactly the attitude he gives off towards his students. He's very knowledgeable about the subject, but that's pretty much sidelined due to his overall rudeness. Take professor Smith, if you want to take a sculpture class.

He is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience in his field. However, I'm not a fan of him as an educator. I wasn't inspired by him. He made me feel pretty bad about myself as a student, although I pushed myself to the limits in this class. My advice: if you're interested in Public Art go buy the book, he taught almost exclusively out of it.

He is a TOUGH teacher, and can rub some people the wrong way so come with thick skin. However if you get passed this you will find he is a top quality teacher. He WILL motivate you to master your craft, and teach you all the techniques needed to survive as an artist. Take his Public Art class, it will mentally prepare you to be a working artist.

This professor pushes you to the limit. The class is hard and requires a lot of extra time put into it. I recommend this class for all serious artists who want to know their stuff. Tests are hard, but he talks about everything on them. You can redo all projects for a better grade (not tests). Time management is crucial to do well in this class.

He's a really intense professor, but you won't be dissatisfied unless you're not sure about how you feel about a career in art. He teaches the fundamentals and expects you to learn them. If you don't really want to work super hard don't take him. BUT if you wanna be a dedicated artist go for it.Oh yea, the book is a MUST.

He is very intelligent and wants to weed out the kids who don't need to be doing art. The biggest problem is he will only give you a C on projects if you follow all requirements...he wants you to go above and beyond. Just because you slave away on projects doesn't mean you'll get good grades. Learned: I don't want to be a 3d major!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. As some of the other comments say- "if you don't like him, you're a whiny baby that's not willing to work" That's BS. I worked my A** off & he never noticed, tore everything I did apart (verbally). Thinks after his class you will wanna be 3D major- I was interested in learning about 3D... & I never wanna touch 3D art ever again.

Professor O. is the most inspiring instructor I have ever had at KSU. When I first entered the class, I was only willing to barely get a B... After some motivation on his part, I now have the drive and ability to distinguish myself from everyone else in any art class. I actually WANT to make amazing grades... something I never thought I would drive

GREAT PROFESSOR! Makes you fall in love with the 3Dimensional art world! A little cocky at times, but he goes out of his way to help students, and if he sees you work hard, you'll get an A! Projects require a lot of outside class time, but the knowledge I acquired from his class was unbelievable and I will take him again!

Passionate about the subject. Able to tie modern art by African American artists to ancient African art. Don't take the class if you're not willing to do the work required.

Very strict with attendance. Some say he is mean and rude, but I feel he is just sarcastic. He was always helpful when I had questions. I enjoyed all his lectures. Tests are from lectures, but move to more from the book as the semester progresses. Gives extra credit, so be sure to take advantage of it.

He's rude. He's mean. He's arrogant. He tells you not to do things and then does them himself. He grades hard on attendance but is absent himself quite often. I dropped his class after a month because I couldn't take him anymore.

He is very knowledgeable of the material and a good teacher. He is organized and easy to listen to and willing to help, however takes no crap! He is strict on attendence so show up! The beginning of the class, tests come straight from his notes, but towards the end of the class he completely relies on the book. Good prof but requires lots of work!
