Comment:
Made the lectures fun sometimes but overall the material is very boring. He drops major hints on what you will be tested on the exam during class. The labs build on each other so if you do not finish on your own time you are screwed. Lab exam was super easy MVC and exam was not difficult. Project was difficult so choose team wisely..

One of the very few professors at carletonU who care about their students getting a grip on the concepts rather than just passing the course.

Comment:
When he is teaching, he jumps from one concept to another. And that makes it very difficult to understand. Also with his group assignment people who do not work get the same grade as the others.

Comment:
Spends a majority of the lectures teaching first year discrete math, which graduate students are fully capable of studying on their own (assuming they lack the knowledge). Consequently very little time is spent on the core concepts of the course and the discussion of examples.

Babak is not Donald Bailey. SYSC 2004 is an Object Oriented class. Understand the concepts early, and you'll be fine. His assignments were tough, and took around 6 hours to complete. Babak's lectures were long and boring, but hey its programming. His midterm was a bit of a curveball. The final was straight-forward, just as long as you kept up.

Comment:
Decent person, but the lectures get really boring if you're not into the stuff. Maybe thats just the course. He tries his best to keep the class interesting by coming up with scenarios and asking students for their opinions on solving it, and it can really be interesting. The midterm and final were very fair. Asstignments and labs were moderate.

Comment:
Too much time spent on trivial historical AI concepts before getting to the point: agent-based/autonomous systems. Final project (RoboCup) is done in teams of 3-4, which is ridiculous at grad level. Babak is personable and sincerely tries; but the *many* class hours spent ranting about students' poor achievement would be better spent moving ahead.

Really good professor. He has high expectations of the class but they are not unreasonable expectations. He takes a lot of time to carefully understand concepts so that the entire class understands. Attending the class and labs is key to passing the course.

Good prof. Very smart. Care about the students in the class. He is trying hard to make sure everyone in class understand the material. He is also willing to spend a lot of time on office hour to help you with your problems. But he is a hard marker.

Teaches VERY WELL, the class is enjoyable. He speaks English which cannot be taken for granted at Carleton University. Marks hard and is quite unforgiving in that he deducts marks TWICE for the same mistake.
