I wouldn't recommend her. Very insensitive in my opinion. Comes off very kind, although seamed like a bit of a bully. Also the course content was very typical and nothing exciting. Expects you to turn water into wine with the toothpick structures she calls assignments. Don't ask for help outside of class. You've been warned.

Barb is a horrible prof. She is extremely rude whether she is talking one on one with you or in email. Do not take the course if she is the teaching it. Worst Prof I have ever had!!!

Barb is a good prof although you must pay attention in lecture as she does not post materials. Also lowkey convinced shes a dominatrix in her spare time but thats a different story

Comment:

Barb is a very unique prof, unique in a number of great ways. Yes she is a tough grader, and yes she is hard on students - but it is always warranted. Do your readings and PAY ATTENTION IN LECTURE and you'll do great! More profs should teach like Barb - the way profs used to teach with high expectations for their students to learn and excel.

By far one of the best professor's I have EVER had. She does not suffer lazy students at all. Do your readings! Lectures are very well organized, offer different styles of learning, her instructions for assignments are clear and her marking fair. You need to ACTUALLY do your work in her class - as you should be prepared to do in all Uni. courses.

She was a tough proff, and it was hard sometimes to know what she wanted. She offered a lot of help, however, and tried to accommodate her students into her schedule. Didn't have her for seminars, but heard she was cold and intense.

Have to do your readings and pay attention in class. Assignments are only two page essays which were not to bad. Keep up with the online weekly assignments which are 35% of the course and are based on readings and seminars. In class is kind of boring. Exam was very hard.

Very lively and personable person, funny and incredibly intelligent. Not sure on her marking style as I did well on assignments and horridly on the exams. Very nice and it's hilarious to listen to her little running commentary comments to herself as she goes along!
