If you have a heavy class load or are just impatient in general DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Lots of busy work, mandatory attendance for boring, repetitive lectures about outdated design. The Blackboard is ridiculous. She is super nice, though, and tries to be helpful. I just hated this class because I felt like everything about it wasted my time.

This is one of the easiest classes I've ever taken at ECU. There's a few website assignments but they're super easy and she gives you detailed instructions on what to do. Class is really boring though, and she's kind of awkward but it's fine. Quizzes are easy. She takes attendance. Made us buy Tophat but we used it once so kinda salty about that.

Comment:

Ms. Bullington was a powerhouse. I also had her for a 9 a.m. class and by her 6 p.m. class she was still enthusiastic. Do beware that the class, at least when I took it, is a night class and 3 hours and Bullington doesn't like when students are late or leave early. But, I felt like the time usually flew since she mixed a # of presentations types.

This class was great! It taught me everything from basic web design principles to animation in design. I got a professional Flash certificate in the class in addition to just a class grade. I think this course covers everything you need to be able to work on a website or build a website, which is what I will probably be doing when I graduate.

Good teacher, seems to generally want to help students. Submits students' work to be published in local publications. Also has a lot of experience in the field. Lots of tedious homework assignments but they're easy grades. Midterm/ final are tough. Have to go to class.

Mrs. Bullington is overall a great teacher she can be a tad odd but she's really nice and not at all difficult. I never went to class and still got a B+, would have gotten an A if it wasn't for attendence. There's a decent amount of writing in this course but nothing ridiculous.

Love this professor! Definitely taking each and every class offered by her that I'm required to take. She was very helpful and if I needed an extra day for something all I had to do was talk to her! LOVE THIS PROFESSOR!

One word for you - InDesign. If you don't know what this program is or have never used it, then this course could be tough for you. However, if you have done any desktop publishing, and if you know InDesign, this class is a breeze. There is a bit of writing, and some editing involved, but it is not as writing intensive as many COMM courses.

For being a teacher in a design class, she has no idea how to format things on Blackboard so it isnt a jumbled mess. Deciphering the instructions for the assignments is and assignment in itself. The main text is worth keeping if you plan on going into newspaper. Make sure you start on design projects early-so you can ask any questions that come up.

I took Media Writing this semester with Bullington. She's big on attending regularly, but she also makes the material interesting. I didn't know for sure that I wanted to go into journalism until I took this course. She is very enthusiastic about writing and helped me get an article published outside of class.

HORRIBLE teacher! She picks favorites, waits to assign hw until friday nite at 5 and make it due at mindnight, refuses to work with you if you need help. DON'T take her, especially if you need to learn anything about reporting. She grades subjectively on all writing assignments...making it impossible to get an A if you're on her bad list!
