Barbara is smart and passionate, which makes class more fun than expected. Make sure you do all of the readings and be prepared to discuss them in class. Participation was the largest part of my grade.

I love Professor Kellum as a sweet, enthusiastic, and wickedly smart person. But I have a hard time in her class. I'm currently in the second course I've had with her, and she can be really hard to follow and understand. Luckily she's not strict at all and is always so happy to help you out, no matter how little you participate or even show up.

I take her classes just for the chance to interact with her--Kellum is a wonderful person and (especially if Roman history is your thing) a joy to talk to. She loves hearing student interpretations of work, has a great sense of humor and her assignments really allow students to delve into their areas of interest. Never has students buy books.

She mumbles a lot. Very hard to understand her during lectures then expects a ton from students.

Art and Architecture of the Roman World. She is a really great professor! Extremely knowledgeable, clear and helpful. I loved taking her course and interacting with her. So much so, that she is now my advisor!

This class has been my absolute favorite! We go on field trips almost every week and have a lot of fun. Professor Kellum is very enthusiastic about the course and is always more than willing to help us if we need it. Plus, her elephants make me smile :) If you go to Smith, I highly suggest taking at least one class with her before you graduate!

She is the sweetest professor I've come across in my time here at Smith. I decided to take this class just because it was one of the few that had space and fit in my schedule at the time. Her lectures can at times teeter on the verge of boring but as far as art history classes go, it's one of the more fascinating ones that I've taken.

Not particularly formulaic lectures, but very colloquial, fun, animated, and entertaining to attend class with. Very willing to work w. students on all fronts. Made ancient roman art history actually interesting to me, and I typically fall asleep. When it comes to ancient Rome, she knows her stuff *well*.

Very knowledgable but incredibly boring. Went to sleep nearly every time, no matter how hard I tried to stay up. Extremely nice person, but not an extremely good lecturer.

Extremely knowledgeable -- However, I found her lectures in 212 to be generally dry and difficult to take notes on. On the other hand, the seminar was really great. Kellum is always willing to help students and is readily available to meet with them. Despite the dry lectures, I would definately consider taking another class with her!

She had a way of making a class that i had to take for my major and had zero interest in taking extremely painful with stunningly incomprehensible lectures. I'm sure she's a perfectly nice lady, but a terrible professor.
