Barbara is such a nice lady and a great prof. Shes clearly passionate about French and its really helpful in keeping lectures interesting. French 2601 (grammar & reading) was 2 shortish novels and a little bit of grammar, and I mean a little bit. If you go to class and know the stories, easy A!!! Take this prof if you have the chance!

I loved every class with Dr. Thistle. She makes you feel comfortable answering questions in her class and is a very fair grader. I was super nervous going into my oral interview but she made me feel very comfortable, like there was no pressure at all. 100% recommend taking her class if possible.

Amazing prof, very passionate about the class. Lectures aren't boring, and she gives excellent explanations of the material in both english and french. Very clear about what you need to know for tests. Fair grader. Go to class and do all of the devoirs and you will pass.

Barbara is such a kind and respected lady and she is very clear with everything that she teaches. It was such a relief to have her as a prof for my first semester, honestly I would recommend her to anybody. If you don't understand something in French she has no problem explaining it in English. Seriously, take her class you won't regret it!!

One of the best professors I've taken class with at MUN! Her teachings are very, very clear and easy to understand! She doesn't need to repeat twice for you to understand, it just goes straight to your memory! She is very caring and helpful if you need assistance on this course! I am really looking forward to take the next level course with her!

Barbara Thistle is such a nice lady! I would defintely recommened taking a class with her, she made me learn a lot in this class and is so caring for her students and always available to help her students in office hours or after class. Her classes are interesting and she does her best to get everybody to speak :)

Dr. Thistle is fantastic! She is so caring towards her students. As long as you have some background in French it is fairly easy. You should definitely go to class though as she gives lots of examples and suggestions. I am taking her again for 2601.

Barbara is amazing. I've completed half my minor just with her. She is very caring and fair. I would take any class she taught because I know that she will teach it perfectly. The last book we read was really dry and boring - but she didn't pick the books (as another prof was supposed to teach the course but left)

This is the second time I have had Barbara Thistle, and I would take any class of hers again! I absolutely love and adore her, she is so sweet, and actually cares about her student. I would recommend everyone to get in her class!

LOVE Barbara Thistle. She's one of the best professors I've ever had. The workload for this course was very reasonable, and she actually chose interesting books for us to read. Lectures are pretty engaging, and evaluations are not difficult. One of the only good french profs at MUN.

Found her class to be somewhat unclear, generally did not explain material very well, fairly helpful in regards to your struggles with the material, however material can be quite confusing. Unless you have significant background in french prior to taking this course, this professor does not come recommended.

She's great! Labs every week, three essays which you pass in, she edits, and you pass in again. You have to participate, either by reading or giving answers to questions, she WILL ask you! Encourages you to speak in french, but not mandatory. I love her!!!

loved her class. i passed but i would of done better if i tried but it wasn't due to her she gave me review sheets corrected them for me and was very sweet and kind. everyone has their bad days but she seemed approachable even when i never had a question she would have a chat

Overall, she is a very nice person who tries to be helpful. However, the course outline isn't clear or detailed, so dates for tests would be announced only days before. She tends to mumble and her examples are hard to follow. Unless you already some background in french, I wouldn't recommend this prof.
