Great prof! If you do the work in his workbook you are bound to do good. I had him for both 2390 and 3650 and I loved it! I would love to do another course with this prof! He's very fair and if you do the work you'll do well!

Comment:

I found Prof. O'Dwyer more than helpful and clear in what he expected of his students. Term and final exams were outlined throughout the term and there were no 'tricks'on the exams. Study the workbook and practice, practice, practice and you will do fine. Don't believe the negative comments; he is a helpful and extremely knowledgeable prof.

Great course, really interesting material and very detailed feedback from Dr. O'Dwyer. After taking 2390 and 3650 with him I was very intimidated to do a course with essays but he was great - super helpful and an easy marker!

Tough course! Although Dr. O'Dwyer does respond fairly promptly to questions, he doesn't give clear anwswers unless your questions are VERY specific. Also, ask about exam format - if you don't ask he won't tell, and different exams in the same term often have different formats-it can throw you off.

Hard course overall but he also used textbooks he wrote himself so it made him closed-minded (if you don't catch on to his way of doing things it's hard to learn on your own since he wrote the books). Had to get outside help to pass the course.

He is not half as bad as all these replys say. The material itself is hard, if you dont work at it- you wont do good. I think some people just misjudge him for being snotty and arrogant, if u actually talked to him u would see different.

Definately the worst prof. I've ever had. He showed no concern for students and really didn't care at all what happened to us. He offered boring, and unclear lectures and marked incredibly hard. Would never take a course with him nor recommend him.

Ouch!! Hardest course I ever did! All grammar...as if that isn't hard enough, trying doing it by distance. When you try to get an answer or help from him by e-mail he sends a saucy reply! Don't do this course unless you need it!

He is such a nice man, very helpful and fair, if you didn't do the work you didn't get the marks. I would recommend him to anyone going to take eng 3650 or 2390. It may have been harder than the rest of the professor's but that only was for our benefit
