Most often will pull the 3 problems from one of the 300problems in book. But which will he choose? I took this class and received about a 50% not good enough to pass. HE doesn't curve. I took what I learned(hes pretty clear, but its a hw learned class) and then took it at LBState and received a B, still averaging 50%, but the teacher curved.

Best physics teacher available on campus, very funny and makes the topic very interesting. Homework is very easy, reading the book is required to pass the class, very hard to get 100% on exams but very easy to get a A or B, due to trick questions. I recommend this professor with phys110, 111 and 185!

Mr Gilpin is awesome! If you must take physics at golden west take 185 with mr. gilpin and not Dr. Stein. However, gilpin doesn't teach 280 or 285 and i highly reccomend NOT taking those classes at golden west with dr stein because he is ridiculous.

This guy is hilarious. I would have looked foward to this class other than the physics is not my thing. You have to really read the book and understand the problems don't be afraid to ask him he's very helpful. I studied very hard and got a C and A for lab. Again physics is not my thing so... but he curves a lot

This guy is hilarious and a great professor. The class is very difficult, but having him as the professor made it tolerable. Lab attendance is mandatory but you are allowed to miss one lab. I still haven't gotten by grade but I think I will have a B for the semester.

This class was extremely difficult because in the very beginning he gives the impression that the class was pretty simple;therefore I was really confident but believe me, it was not that simple. For the lecture you may feel confident but you definitely need to read the book many, mnay times before the exam. Plan on spending lots of time preparing!!

Hilarious teacher- very dry sense of humor- had my friends and myself rolling on the floor most of the semester. Labs are tedious, but go quickly. Very easy to talk to, and keeps things interesting-will look for more classes to take from this guy!

HILARIOUS! Looks like Hawkeye, jokes like Al Bundy! Easier than basic high school physics. To get an A, do just one of the following: read the book, take notes and learn everything taught in the class. Extra credit available. Interacts with students in front row, so avoid if undesirable.

Funny & no surprises on exams. He does examples, which seem easy, but they are representative of basic problems & u need to study a lot to understand concepts. Do as many problems as possible-some exam problems come straight out of the book. Whoever said he ruined your 4.0, the class is for science majors & requires lots of work, unlike other classes

Very funny and interesting guy. Not always the most interesting topics, but he makes it interesting. HW is optional and can help boost a borderline grade. Test difficulty is so-so, you need the book to do well on the tests, u have to study. Don't take this unless you have to or you're especially interested. Only very basic algebra is needed.

Mr. Gilpin is a great professor. He tries to make physics interesting and makes a lot of humorous remarks. He strongly emphasizes the commitment that the students must make when taking a difficult class. All I have to say is study hard, because how well you do in this class depends mostly on your self, not the professor, although he is helpful.

I liked this professor a lot. He is crazy about attendance to LABS. miss 2 labs and he takes 10% off your final grade. Hard tests, but if you do the homework, they are fair enough. Oh, and dont take this class if you are going to mess around, he kicked 2 people out of the course because they were playing solitare on the computer.

Very good overall. I'm taking physics 185 and he makes very funny comments and stories. Explains things very well and gives many warnings to physics students like study study study. You must go to class in order to see how he likes you to take his tests and set up everything. Great teacher

Don't take this class when your English is not good enougth because his speaks fast. He also talks a lot, so you will feel uneasy when he just keep talking and talking beside your ears and so, can't concentrate. Anyway, I quit. Reason:many friends say he will not give you good grade, so I can't risk my GPA.

Intro/survey class for non-majors. Most likely diff. atmosphere compare to major courses. Attendance is not mandatory but obviously will help. Either read text carefully or come to class. Prof. Gilpin is more than approachable and often has interesting stories about various work/life. Makes numerous random jokes ranging from funny to so-so.
