Comment:
The classes are lectures on the different assigned readings throughout the semester. Attendance doesn't seem to be mandatory, but it affects a portion of your grade and the lectures are very interesting and helpful (if you're reading). Make sure you finish your rough drafts on time so you can take advantage of the peer reviews.

I absolutely loved this class. Dill is brilliant and all of the material was relevant and interesting. I learned more in this class than all of my other classes combined this semester and I really feel like my writing has improved because of his instruction. As an English major, I definitely recommend this class!

Everything you read on here is true! Grumpy, lectures are long, assignments are difficult to BS your way through.... However, Mr. Dill is a very kind man (Gruff exterior), and full of very interesting information if you want it. Some classes are so long they seem to never end... attendance is NOT mandatory. 3 Essays and a research paper is it!

Comment:
Professor Dill was nice and incredibly smart. He knew thoroughly what he was taking about and often made witty jokes during lectures. You write many papers, but that is the only homework and you learn about different topics in the process. Didn't attend all class meetings, but passed with a B. Pay attention and do homework ahead of time.

Rambles on about Greek philosophy, does not give you examples on how to write your essays, doesn't teach you anything that has to do with your work! If you know how to type A-level essays, go ahead. IF you don't, avoid this class.

A preacher teacher, speaks his mind. Passionate about his work. Grades are made out of three essays and one research paper. If you want an A, you MUST know how to write essays. He doesn't explain how to, you have to know. Classes are only lectures. A few peer reviews. Clear and helpful. Weird and funny guy, he'll help you if you ask.

I beg to differ, though he is really strict with the essay writing, but if you always submit on time and have all the essays complete then you shouldnt have a problem. take notes! i often get B's on my paper but my final grade on the class was A :)

Very knowledgeable professor with some very thought provoking ideas. This class is easy if you pay attention, take notes and take the time to create well-written essays. I took the summer course and it was a very compacted schedule, but I did what I said to do and got an A. I would recommend this course to anyone who needs to take an English class.

I don't think I really learned anything from him. He is really boring, goes off on weird tangents about stuff that has nothing to do with what we should be learning.

Worst. teacher. of. my. life. lectures are confusing and hard to follow, VERY hard to stay awake during his class, however he once lectured for 20 minutes about the devil climbing up a straw out of a glass of water. I dropped and re-took the same class at cuyamacca with professor Halsted and got an A.

Do not take him. I went to all his classes (tried my best to stay awake) turned in all my work and still got an F. I aced Eng 110. This guy doesn't tell you what he expects from you. You do what he assigns and its still not enough. He talks about stuff that has nothing to do with what we're suppose to do in class.

Class was interesting, but not really what I expected in an English class. Seemed much more like a study of classic philosophy. You'll find out waht progymnasmata means!

Horrible teacher. Went out of his way to be rude multiple times. Not willing to help at all. Thought he was funny, but he wasn't. What he asks for and what he wants are two different things. Not consistant at all. Causes a lot of unnecessary stress. Explanations are not helpful either.
