Fall 2014 was his last semester. Very passionate about the subject, he even cried during a lecture and clear with his grading. However if you are not American or went to high school in America it will take a lot of reading and follow up questions to get a good grade because it is all basic US history

If you read the textbook you'll do well on the test. Class lecture can get a bit boring at times. He explains everything clearly and sometimes use movie scenes to help explain his point. He's really enthusiastic to teach history.

Class is a joke. Dumb easy. Especially considering most people have studied this topic 5 times before in either highschool or elementary school. Highly suggest taking this class.

Hansen loves history. His class is manageable but you must must must read the chapters he assigns in the textbook. He doesn't go over most of the stuff he will put on the quizzes/tests, only touches on some things.

He can come off as demanding, but it's only because he's extremely organized.DO NOT let him catch you with your phone out. He's a pretty cool guy overall and breathes and lives for history. It's actually very inspiring. He's also kinda funny sometimes. Don't slack off and you'll be alright.

Prof. Hansen made me view American history in a truly different light and perspective. He is by far one of the best professors at Baruch and he makes his class absolutely fascinating. If only all professors were as fervent, organized, and inspiring as he is. I will miss this class tremendously and everyone should take him if given the opportunity!

Professor Hansen is an absolutely wonderful history professor. He is extremely passionate about the course and makes his class interesting. You MUST read the assigned chapters at least twice to be fully prepared for exams. He gets slightly emotional when teaching about Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address... truly an amazing and impassioned professor!

Great Professor! Superbly organized and detail oriented!Knows his subject very well and likes his job. The course load is quite managable but labor intensive. I took the class in Jan and we had quizes and exams every week. All you need to do is show up ON TIME, take notes, read the book and will be fine, + his lectures are interesting.Take him !

TAke him! A lot of work: 6 quizes, 2 optionals( that can substitute your low grade), 3 exams. Just pay attention to what he says during classes.Take good notes, read the book and you ll be fine. Study ONLY what is mentioned in his handouts. No need to learn more. I am a foreigner, got A.

Quizzes and Exams are relatively straight forward, just pay attenion and do his readings and you'll be fine. He gives handouts for every chapter that outlines everything he wants. Assigned seating and mandatory attendance, but we're not children,, so follow his rules until class is over and everything will be fine.

Professor Hansen is a great professor, I just wish that all my other professors at Baruch would teach this way. He is very clear about his expectations and his lectures are crystal clear. I took the Jan course so READING a must. But definately possible to achieve a high grade and learn at the same time.

Teacher is so boring, it is almost impossible to stay awake in class, he has such a monotone voice. The class wasn't so difficult though, All i did was read the chapters and study the key words before the test's and quizzes and I ended up getting a B+, even though i got a 63 on my first test. He gives you options to drop lowest quiz grades.
