The course material is pretty easy to grasp, and she's really good about getting the main points across. The exams really aren't too bad; just multiple choice and true or false. You did have to read the textbook but it was basically backing most of the things from class with a few extra points. I'd recommend it.

I ignored the ratings and took this teacher anyway, and it was a horrible mistake. She has no reasoning behind her grading and will totally bs you if you ask. You never know what to take notes on, all she does is circle a word and then ramble. Had to read the book and take notes on it to even get a C on the exams. DO NOT TAKE, you will regret!

Gender & Communication class... thought it would be about Gender and Communication but it's actually about feminism and stupid stuff about her kids/husband. she doesn't follow the syllabus, doesn't use the book & grades based on nothing except whatever she feels like writing down. RUN AWAY NOW.

Betty is terrible. She has no system for her grading. She teaches public speaking but is not good at it herself. She bases you grades on how much she likes you or how she is feeling that day. There is only one test but it is impossible. I would not recommend taking this class, there are so many other teachers for this class that are better.

Take this class online! I have friends in the lecture version and it's much more difficult and less interesting. Somewhat confusing grader, but all papers got good marks. Reaction papers focus on your opinions/interpretations so no need for much outside research. Books are a must to write the papers

Haslett is a nice woman, but this class is a pretty tough one to sit through. Lectures are extremely boring and hard to sit through. Class was 2 exams (midterm & final) w/ 1 15-20 page paper. Exams were really tricky and you had to know the material inside and out. Avoid if you can.

do not take haslett for comm unless you absolutely have to. itll be the hardest class of your college career. Hard doesnt even begin to explain it, more like impossible. Don't get me wrong she is soo nice, but she's very unclear during lectures and her exams cover way too much material and are literally impossible. also she requires 20 pg papers

Good readings esp. Feminist theory. I loved the papers, but her grading was more than tough - unclear. I admit I'm bitter, so grain of salt this. also, went on vacation and posted final grades 2 weeks late - speaks to prof work ethic.

The course is interesting,and you must read everything in order to ace the exams. I read as much as I could but she assigns a lot and it's hard to fit it all in. The tests wouldn't be so bad if we had time to read it all! She's a nice lady with a lot of knowledge but write down everything she says!

Let me start by saying I am a straight A student. Haslett makes her test far too difficult because she splits too many hairs. It is as if you must memorize verbatim the assigned readings. I will never take her again. I hope none of you will take a chance with your GPA by taking her class. Not good.
