Comment:

Bev is a great prof, very passionate about her subject matter, and wants you to love it as much as she does. She's funny, engaging, and patient. Do the readings, (short stories, poems, and one novel), pay attention, and don't be afraid to answer a question, and there's no reason you won't succeed. I decided to minor in English because of her.

bev is nice and understanding however she marks essay very hard and gives a little feedback on your paper which is not very helpful. books are mandatory and you must read the literature works ahead of time as she sometimes do recitation. would not advice to take her class if English is your 2nd language.

Bev was one of the hardest prof I had for my first year. She makes you read so much, she tells a lot of stories which I enjoy. But since English is my second language the class was too hard for me, even though I give so much effort and work for the writing assignments she is just a hard marker. She can fail you if she wants.

Annoying, only talks about Irish history instead of actual English.... we spent 4 classes only going over the chronogly of Ireland.. so pointless. Incredibly boring and her lectures draaaaaag on. She's very well informed about Ireland but nothing else. Wouldn't recommend her at all. BEWARE!

Bev is a good prof, she's caring and open to help students. Takes 10 years to hand back assignments though so don't wait around for your marks! Hard to see how you can improve since she hands back the last essay the day before the next one is due.

She seems to draw your mark out of a hat and stick with it for the semester. This was a throw-away english class for me, and I have always gotten outstanding marks on essays (95%). Consistently got 75 on every essay; even after sabotaging one to see if she would mark lower! Seems to take marks off without any feedback or explanation.

Majority of the time was spent talking about Irish History rather than actual english, writing etc. Lectures are very boring and long. Marked hard (for me anyways), got 80 in english 110 and got 60s on all of my essays in this class.

What a sweet lady! Although Bev is very sweet and helpful, her lectures are very dull and drag along. Make sure you get enough sleep the night before because you are bound to fall asleep in these boring lectures. I love Irish history, but we spent the majority of the class focusing on that rather than improving our writing skills. Overall ok prof.

She is really nice and understanding, I needed an extension on top of an extension and she was willing to give it to me! She expects you to have done your readings and participate in class. She often likes to talk and go off on small tangents so sometimes it is hard to follow the lecture, but it all ties together in the end. Average grader.

I really enjoyed Bev, even though I hated English class. She is very nice and tries to make the class interesting. I got the same mark on all 4 of the essays throughout the semester, and she didn't give much feedback so I found it hard to raise my mark. Overall, a good prof for Eng 100 and good for those who hate English like myself.

Bev made English 100 an enjoyable class. I've never liked English but she made it easy to follow and is a very fair marker. 4 essays and a final, were very doable. She has a sense of humour and gets essays back in a reasonable amount of time

Very nice lady, although lectures can be boring and off topic. MArks consistently throughout the semester. If you put in the effort, you will get a good grade in her class. Would not recommend taking her class if you want to improve your writing skills, as she gives very little feedback on papers and little instruction during class.

Nice prof. She is sweet and willing to help whenever needed. She offers to read your essays before they are due, which I found to be really helpful in my editing process. Can sometimes get off topic in class and class can get pretty dull sometimes. However, I found she genuinely cared about the students and overall is just a really nice lady.

Awful teacher. I would never recommend her to anyone. She picks on people who aren't goody goodies. Just because we didn't suck up to her, she picked on me and my friends. She marked hard, my mark dropped 11% from ENG 100. Irish Fiction is absolutely terrible. Class is not manditory, she takes too much time on stuff that isn't relevant. Not a fan.

Bev was awesome. She is a super nice lady and is willing to help you whenever you need it. I'm taking her Irish Lit class and it's very interesting. She chooses really good stories. She assigns two essays and one in class film review (you can bring in a cheat sheet) plus an open book final. (you can make notes in all 3 books too). I recommend her.
