Literally the worst professor in the school. She would have gotten an F in her own class because she is a horrific public speaker. A despicable teacher who should not even be allowed in grade school. Avoid at all costs. Do yourself the favor. She gives final grades much lower than you deserve, even if you are a fabulous speaker. No A's.

She is a bipolar person. One minute she'll be nice and want to help you out and the next shes complaining about how nobody did the work. She is not a good public speaker for teaching it. She constantly interrupts you while you are trying to start or set up for your speeches. Drop it now..

For somebody who teaches public speaking, she doesn't communicate to her class very effectively. Disorganized, picky grader, doesn't tell the class about mandatory assignments posted on ANGEL, etc. Way too much busywork. Very difficult to earn above a B in the class, even for great speakers, b/c she'll dock you for stupid details on your outline

Tests are the easiest thing in the world. Outlines of speeches prepared/handed in in advance basically give you the finished product. Makes you critique yourself and other people - complete b/s because you repeat yourself over and over. You can think you improved drastically from your last speech and still get the same grade every time.

couldnt stand her. didnt learn anything. She was nice enough i suppose but was a really bad grader. You could bomb a speech and get a B and then on a speech you actually prepare for you would get the same grade. speech grades stayed consistant for most of my class for everyone and no one really liked her. Not recomended & if you can switch, do it.

I dreaded public speaking before I took this class, but she helped me get over all of that. The outlines and research you have to do before you give the speech are worth it because it definatly helps you when you have to get up there and talk in front of the class. Test and quizzes were easy. She seems tough at first but don't drop out just yet..

absolutley hated her. was not one of her pets, but still gave amazing speeches (according to the class) so she had to give me that grade, otherwise it would have been unfair. but she did everything possible to make me do bad, i just didnt sucummb to it DONT TAKE HER

Professor Meil is quite dedicated to her profession. She is a very nice lady with a good heart. Sure her hair style is a bit 1960s, but rather then looking at her hair listen to her teachings. Just think, if your find her voice annoying you always could have gotten WAGNER. Wagner is TERRIBLE.

considering i hate public speaking, i gotta hand it to Meil...I actually got A LOT out of this class - more confidence, an enjoyable atmosphere to look forward to 3 days a week and some great friends...as far as i'm concerned, my class had a blast!

Meil is by far the worst teacher at Scranton. She is rude and hurtful in all that she does. She has 50 question quizzes and they are the hardest questions ever- they are NOT just definitions. Do NOT take this class whatever you do! Drop it if you get her.

Get on her good side early and stay there--it pays! Quizzes are picky, but you WILL know everything on the final without studying. Also picky in grading speeches (B range). Does openly criticize speeches with the intent of it being constructive, I think.

OK,so Mrs.Meil may be a little on the crazy side, but she knos wut she's talking about. Her speeches r a lil tedious, and her tests r a lil picky but if u answer the ?s in the notes in the beginning of the chapter u will b fine. SHe's very helpful!!
