Bill is a great professor. He has a very casual teaching style which encourages non-phil majors to participate in class, which is refreshing. Although he speaks casually with the class, he is great at delivering the material and providing a thorough explanation. Highest attendance rate compared to all my other classes.

Bill is an awesome prof!! Highly recommend for any first year students!! It is an easy W course and he will do anything to help you succeed! The concepts are easy, just make sure you fully understand them! You will never get an A+, but he does give out alot of good grades!

This was definitely a hard class. If you've never taken a philosophy course before, like me, you will find the material quite challenging. But Barthelemy does a wonderful job explaining things. He tells very funny jokes at times and makes phil much more interesting. Exams were brutal, the final consisted of 6 essays! Work hard and you'll do fine.

Do yourself a favor and take a class with Bill. Some of the most interesting lectures I've ever heard. Tough class, hard marker. But totally worth it.

Best prof I've ever had, hands down. This man brought philosophy to life for me. He's very clear on what he expects from you, and how his tests will be broken down. Any who oppose him just didn't care for the material. It's not the simplist stuff to wrap your head around in the first place but with a different prof we'd be up the creek. Thanks!

Smart guy. Interesting lectures. Tells funny jokes sometimes. Exams are okay. Lots of materials to know. Some of the stuff are just too difficult to comprehend. Overall, an interesting course, and this is perhaps one of the easier philosophy courses to take.

This man has more passion for philosophy than I have ever seen in another human being. He really connects with his students and tries to make ancient philosophy--something rather obscure, interesting and relates it to our modern world. He has a broad spectrum of knowledge, not just philosophy. My favourite professor so far. Take this class.

Great guy, funny, and intelligent. Willing to answer lots of questions, and therefore goes off on a tangent sometimes. Midterm and final weren't really hard. Questions were predictable, like he says, and as long as you've attended lecture and somewhat read the book, you'll do fine. Very rarely gives A+'s though, so don't aim that high.

A great professor and philosopher. He has a clear interest in the course material and makes the class fun and interesting. Made some of the more abstract concepts crystal clear. Very funny, and is very open to class discussion. Bill is always happy to talk to students and discuss philosophy with them. Fair tests and a fairly easy marker.

This was a great class. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and I found it incredibly interesting. It was a relatively difficult class, but it is Philosophy so I expected that. I would definitley recommend this prof to anyone. He will make you think, and express his own views without pushing them on anyone else.

Ohmygod...this guy is hilarious...rambles a LOT during lecture and comes up with kooky examples but that's exactly what makes it so fun. Leave your notebooks at home now and then and just LISTEN - you'll have lots of laughs and still learn plenty. Love the deep, booming voice too!

Bill's the best! He's engaging, funny, knowledgeable, and unlike many professors I've met communicates a genuine care for his students. Likes to know what people are doing, and always has his own anecdotes and advice to offer on any subject. (I just wish he didn't smoke so much!)

This man is the best teacher who regularly teaches at the SFU Dep't of Philosophy. Along with Zimmerman , Tiffany & Hahn one of the better SFU profs... open minded engages discourse, isn't dogmatic about his presuppositions (this affliction is going around the Phil department.. in terms of invisible prima facia reasons)

one of the best profs i've ever had. extremely fair marker, interesting and involved lectures. will make it very clear if you're confused or asking a stupid question, but not in a condescending way. perhaps a bit intimidating at first, but overall someone who seems to care about the students. i would definitely take any class he teaches.
