Worst teacher ever. He's a senile old man who always wears his beret & goes off on random tangents & how much he hates George Bush/America. Instead of teaching Ethics, he'd always tell us about his colonoscopies & something about pouring warm water up his rear end or something. DONT DARE leave class to use the restroom or else he will have a fit.

Comment:

Professor Tinsley is a very sweet, senile, old man but ultimately his class is boring and I would not take it again. He goes on rants about pretty much anything that doesn't have to do with clarifying a homework assignment and thinks that conversations and newspaper articles are only ethical if they literally say "ethical" in the title.

Tinsley is a sweet, old guy. He is very passionate about philosophy, but hardly is ever on topic. His lectures are quite interesting-but are all on the war. So at the end of the quarter you will be unprepared for the final. Be sure to do ALL your reading, because he test you on the ENTIRE book. Class is more interesting when you challenge his view

I entered his class hopefull to develop my knowledge of Political Science, and walked out empty handed. Its extremely difficult to stay awake in his class, so I think we should have some credit for attending his lectures wide awake, well most of the time. He goes off in random tangents about his past, present, and hopes of the future.

Very easy to get an A in this course, if you can stay awake during class. Very difficult to focus because he tends to go on extreme tangents in his lectures. I learned nothing from Tinsley which was a real disappointment. The class material itself will keep political science majors entertained.

Honestly, he is a good teacher in some ways. All assingments, which are the fundation, are good for students in this class. But I think that there are overload on assingments for every week. If someone do not agree to his idea, he always welcomes the others idea.

He knows the books very well but doesnt accept any other opinions. Closed minded and always off topic, yet expects us to know the material he assigns. Half the class never knew the assigned reading and the other half stopped caring quickly. If you want to save yourself a lot of trouble, dont take this class or any other with this professor.

Bad professor. He lectures about his personal life, his wife, the 3 girlfriends that he had in college, and the dates under the stars on a mountain road. He teaches a lot about his kids as well, told us about hi motorcycle accident and how he wants to get another one, but his wife wont let him. This class is a waste of money.

Assignments consisted of asking us to summarize the reading assignments, yet WE NEVER KNEW WHAT PAGES WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE READING. Laughing at his **** after class was fun. took both his classes, and what a mistake. often talks off topic, either about his supposed million dollar house, or military bottle opener on his key chain. closed minded when it comes down to the nitty gritty. he prides himself by down grading opinions and insights, and sees everyone's opinion to be irrelevant and inferior to his. please retire.

Talk about indoctrination! It is not right for him to say a person is not free unless society pays for his food, shelter and medical. That is this guy's opinion (and a bad one)! I received an "A", but it doesn't matter. My stomach is strong. Don't waste your lunch, friends. His ideals are poisonous.

He gives out vague assignments, speeches that blather on and have no signifigance. He fell asleep during a student presentation. When the class aplauded the effort, he chastised us for waking him up. Says he'll hand back assignments on Monday, then hands them back 1.5 weeks later. BAD TEACHER!!!!

In class, we watch movies or have a speaker. We listen to another professor's lectures on tape. It doesn't bother me because I'm familiar with the material, but I feel bad for other students. I've found myself answering others' questions in class, because he seems unable to. Good guy, bad professor.

I am a bright, hardworking student, but he barely passed me because I challenged his anti-American views several times. In one class, he called me "a Hitler-lover" because I am Republican. Awful teacher. Don't take him unless you are prepared to agree with him on all aspects.

He is the WORST prof at Foothill. If you're interested in philosophy, don't take his class- it is a frustrating waste of time. I'm a hard working honor student, and barely squeaked by because I don't believe in BSing to write papers. Did not follow green sheet and NO official grading policy.
