Comment:

Binay's not perfect; he does make mistakes basically every lecture. If you don't get bogged down too much in specifics though, he's actually really good at explaining concepts. The midterms were easy, especially the first one. You could choose which questions you answered, and both had bonus marks. The final was hella hard though.

Terrible prof, he can't explain anything properly, literally going to his lectures are cancerous. Study by researching online and watching youtube videos and do textbook homework and you should be fine. Some TA's were useless, and the prof's office hours weren't great either, he will try to argue with you and make you look stupid.

There was no midterm, but several quizzes throughout the semester. The quizzes reflect what Binay goes over in lectures. Answer key for quizzes contains many many errors. The prof stated that if the final mark is good, he will consider your final exam mark as a class mark, this might be due to the fact that his answer key was full of errors.

He's nice and willing to help, although the lecture is boring as hell. The grades he gives will be miserable but it's on curve so won't be a problem. Attendance is not mandatory but you better not skip lecture.

Generally I never had a CMPT grade lower than B+, but this guys is HORRIBLE. He is genius, but there is no way he can be an instructor. He expects bachelor student to be a walking genius that understands whatever goes in his mind. Pressures every student with so many things. Horrible grader and gives the toughest and longest exams you can ever have

The instructor is very helpful and always available for extra help. Also, you need to PAY ATTENTION in class and PARTICIPATE. If you are just there playing games or talking you will not get anything out of the lecture. Bonus marks are given during quizzes and exams but it will not be direct questions you will have to think before you answer.

He might have a bit of an accent, but for an algorithms class, English really doesn't matter. If you still have trouble understanding, read the book as he follows closely to it. Pay attention to his advice in class. He constantly gives good tips and reminders on what to study or prepare for for the exams.

He really know how to explain. Sometimes it feels like over explains his stuff to make sure students understand. He always gives bonus marks marks in quizzes midterms and final exams.

I attended about 30% of the classes, which in turn made me literally have 37%, but the final got me to a B-. From experience, you can simply attend tutorials for a free 10% and definitely pass this seemingly hard course. Additionally, questions from the textbook are way too easy compared to his quizzes. Simply put, Google is your MACM tutor.

I took MACM101 last term with him. He can't tell x from y, in other words, he can't tell dependent variables from independent variables! you all know what that means for a MATH TEACHER! I will be left confused all my LIFE thanks to him, and my tuition? I should have bought more candies

Going to lecture only confused me and made me think the material was beyond me. I had to get a tutor in order to pass(sucked cause it was expensive) I'm not a math or comp sci student so I found the material pretty hard at first. During office hours he was very helpful but not the case during lecture.

Easy topics. Easy exams. Binay cannot explain anything well at all. He makes a ton of mistakes, writes incredibly slowly, and uses examples that are pretty irrelevant. Still easier than MATH 151 though.

His teaching style isn't my favorite but it's OK. Essentially talked and wrote notes on the blackboard while asking questions to the class. He does make mistakes but he admits it when he's wrong and is very open to discussion. He's not the easiest but I wouldn't mind taking his class again.

He did not explain materials well, but if you put extra efforts, you can pass because the quizzes are not difficult as you think (except the last one). Although the final is a bit hard, you can get a good grade if you are doing well on quizzes.
