Comment:
Bob is an individual whose understanding of economics and calculus is unparalleled to most other professors. Instead of striving to translate that understanding, he demonstrates frustration and disregard for student performance. He acts as if he's Einstein integrated in a room full of 8-year olds. He'll always treat you as if you're an idiot.

You need a solid understanding of Calculus in order to pass this course, otherwise be ready to fail. If you don't go to lecture, the posted slides won't really help, as he uses overheads for the detailed explanations. If you put in the effort (and can get past his odd behaviour) he will answer questions in a way that is a bit easier to understand.

Very difficult tests and course content. Even if you read and comprehend the textbook you will still have difficulties. Expect this class to take up the majority of your time if you plan on passing.

Grades were delayed by 3 weeks due to the faculty working on how much they would scale his class by due to his terrible tests and delivery of material. Best advice for BBA: drop it and take it in part time. Class is easy if you are ok at calculus and micro. And don't bother asking him questions, he will just insult you and not answer them.

Terrible teacher... Sh*ttier subject. Bob is a walking, talking demotivational poster. From day one he will let you know that you will not pass his exams. Take his word on it. Its a tough subject to start with and his monotone, condescending lectures make it a lot harder to follow. Read the textbook and get a tutor if you plan on passing.

Didn't prepare students for exams. Hard to ask questions, made some students feel dumb for asking legitimate questions.

Pedantic speaking style: uses a combination of 17th century sentence construction (says things like "ït matters not"), passive tense, framing things in the negative, and overly long rambles which would have five commas or semi-colons in them if written down. Also, tests extensively on things that he spent 5-10 minutes in one isolated lecture on.

My education at BCIT over the last two years was amazing. The faculty was great. However, I don't understand why year after year, students receive Bob as an instructor to teach their diploma "capstone" course. This condescending hack only loves the sound of his own voice. A little word of advice, don't bother questioning his "economic wisdom".

Don't take ECON 6500 with Bob. He has a terrible teaching style, if you can even call it teaching, and is impossible to learn from. You walk away from lectures confused and what you do learn is from the text or computer. A struggle to make it through his course without wanting to just give up. I can't say it enough, terrible teacher.

I read the text, took notes, even read over his own slides (very different from the content in the text). I'm a 80% above average student so I just find his course ridiculous. He is probably the most challenging, least helpful instructor I've had. Study hard from day 1 so you can pass.

He is the rudest and least helpful prof/instructor I have ever had! He is insulting, condescending, and assumes you know everything. His lectures are VERY different from the textbook and his expectations are unclear!. I completely regret not taking this class online. Get out if you still can!

Bob is awesome! He seems a little intimidating at first because he claims he won't babysit you, but he is available for help and very nice. He has a great sense of humour if you pay attention. Very engaging, and provided solid reasoning to everything. He didn't simplify things, but it helped me learn it. Strongly recommended.

Bob will definitely come across as a bad guy when you first meet him. He seemingly has a bit of an attitude problem but after being in his class I can tell you he's actually a nice guy. He just forces his students to come up with their own solutions. Do not expect Bob to hold your hand through this course, but I would have him teach me again.

Here's the deal about Bob. He's too smart. He kind of reminds me of Walt from Breaking Bad - he knows the material he's teaching is fascinating but he also knows few, if any, students in the class care. Too bad because there are some students who do. Do the readings before lectures and you'll do fine.
