Bah. Rucker is equal parts crap and real talk. And you can't tell where one ends and the other begins. You may end up busting your ass for nothing or getting jumped on some benign detail. Bah!

You really need to know your current events & you need to think beneath the surface! He's really intimidating but also really funny (probably cos of his bluntness). He'll ding you, don't feel bad cos you're learning, happens to everyone in class. Scary class but you learn so much. Never a boring moment in Rucker's class.

Bob is the kind of teacher that thinks he is God, and his students are peasants. He makes you feel like an idiot in class, instead of trying to help you to make your work better. If you aren't a broadcast major, then you'll probably love him, but he'll still probably rip your work/comments to shreds. Avoid Rucker at all costs!!!

Bob has a great heart, sharp brain, and straight-forward teaching style that challenges students to think contextually. I utterly failed his class the semester I took it, but I still deeply respect the man for who he is and what he stands for.

Oh Bob. Here's the thing. Yes, he is hard and he will push you and challenge you and be a jerk sometimes, but he's also the kind of guy who genuinely cares about his students. If you called him at 3am needing a ride home, he would do it. He is a good guy but truly wants his students to LEARN. And yes, know your current events! Good guy but hard!

Probably the hardest class/professor I have ever had. I have learned a lot, but still feel like I don't know anything. He grades way too hard and pushes you to your limit, a little too much. He is the only one who is perfect, everyone else is usually wrong. Only take if you are VERY serious about the news/journalism. KNOW YOUR CURRENT EVENTS!!

Avoid this class if possible. Does not read any of the papers, but pretends he does. your grade is mostly determined on if he likes you or not, but claims it's participation. very intimidating in a class that is supposedly about open communication basically just tells the class why he is right

check out his website: profbob.com. Its as chaotic & useless as his teaching, and this is what he bases his expectations from, the articles on the site (rarely updated). Expects you to have knowledge of EVERYTHING, & if you correct him, he will say youre wrong. No one is right, no ones views are respected, but his own. Cites WIKI/youtube for quizs.

Theres good and bad to this teacher (his name is robert but we call him bob). He's extremely intimidating and will put students on the spot. He is a good teacher with a lot to say and has very good lessons. you'll probably have to speak up at least once but just do it fast and give your opinion before he calls on you. must read text

Awsome Professor. Helpful and clear with assignments. Always approachable at office hours. Does his absolute best to help you think out-side of the box. Very enthusiastic about teaching his students about the world journalism. :)One of the best people you can learn from if you want to become a Reporter.

Definately NOT a course on diversity in the media. All he talked about was prop 8 and obama. I learned NOTHING. There are no formal assignments, tests or lectures. Just "discussion"(him rambling). I do NOT reccommend. Very biased and runs his class like a dictatorship.

The most biased professor on campus! He says does not grade based on your opinion but he does. Classes (Com&Jour) are all about politics and HIS beliefs. You either have to side with him or be a robot just so he doesn't play "Devil's Advocate". :( Avoid!

This instructor is not as great as what people say. He is rude, hypocritical about what he teaches. He says to have balance when in class all he talks about is Obama. He does not like to help you if you are really in need of help. Instead he'll tell you not to ask him and figure it out yourself. What kind of teacher is that when they get paid $$$ t

I'm taking his MCOM 105 class presently for my elective. I'm disappointed with his teaching style because it's all about politics. There's a lot of topics about MEDIA DIVERSITY. I don't feel like I'm learning. He also judge quiet person as underdog & underpaid as if the only requirement for every job is speaking ability.

He doesn't bring you down, this he really wants you to get a good grade and to learn about the world of mass comm. He wants you to watch TV, listen to the news and keep up-to-date, and he will discuss about it. He brings a lot of cool people to come and guest speak. I recommend him.

Hands down one of the best professors I have had at this university, but the class is challenging. Be prepared for a lot of out of class assignments, but also always attend class becuase assignments are given spontaneously. Listen, follow instructions, and participate and you will do very well and gain a lot.

In the beginning, he was very intimidating. But as months went by I got used to him and he is a very helpful teacher. He not only taught me things about the subject but life lessons and he really wants the best for his students. It was my most difficult class but also the best class I've taken. Very interactive! Great Teacher!!

A really great professor, overall, but honestly: he's an elitest. He'll push for the best from you, and he won't provide much in the way of instruction on how you might fulfill his demands. A real live and learn experience. He is very focused on current events, but too much so on politics, which seemed a little hypocritical. Still a good class.

Expect a lot of class discussion. Participation is 50% of grade. In class discussions are meaningful and interesting. He is passionate and makes class interactive. You will definitely not be bored taking this class. He expects a lot and you MUST follow directions. As long as you do exactly what he asks, you will be successful in his class.
