A really knowledgeable and entertaining professor who certainly isn't shy about expressing his own opinions at times. While his teaching and related course material can be somewhat scattered at times, he is nevertheless an excellent professor who I would strongly recommend

Bob is one of the most disorganized, untraditional, professors I have ever had. That being said I will never experience a professor that is as dedicated to his passions and his students as Bob Turner is. He gives you a ton of responsibility and is one of the hardest graders at Skidmore. Luckily he gives good feedback, is kind, and knows his crap.

I love Bob! He is an incredibly engaging and inspiring person, and an overall great guy. Sure, not an easy A, but that is not a representation of his effectiveness as a professor, and the genuine interest he holds in his students.

Bob is a great teacher that gives a crap about his students and the subject matter. Yes he is a hard grader with high expectations, but that means you will put a lot into and get a lot out of the class. Took both immigration politics and environmental politics and policy, and think environmental politics was his best class.

Tough class but I got a lot of out of it. Very hard grader, required the most effort for an A out of any class I've taken. Really nice guy, will help you out if you meet him half way and see him after classexpress interest.

I absolutely loved this class. I am primarily a A-B+ student and I did not do as well as I had hoped in this class because it is an extremely tough class. However, Turner is truly an amazing professor and truly cares about each student. Just DO YOUR WORK and CARE about the class and you have a marvelous time. Turner gets an A+ for being great!

Awesome professor who loves what he teaches and really does want you to learn and do well. Loves meeting during office hours and really appreciates it when you show interest in the subject. He assigns a lot of work and is a brutal grader. Don't expect an A unless you put a LOT of time into the class.

Great guy, very helpful instructor. Genuinely wants you to learn/do well. NOT an easy-A. He is a very difficult grader and gives out difficult assignments that he isn't always crystal-clear on. Getting a good grade is possible but requires a significant (borderline excessive) amount of work.

Bob Turner is by far the best teacher I have had at Skidmore. Also- he's a great guy and loves talking for long periods of time if you stop by his office. No, he doesn't give out A's- but getting an A is possible if you work hard.

By far the toughest teacher I've ever had, but does know a lot about political science. I would've gotten an A in any other class with the amount of effort I put into the class, but only got a B. Downfall of grade mostly attributed to the powerpoints and stringent grading of exams.

Best teacher I have had at Skidmore. He is tough, so don't go looking for an easy A, but he really demands a lot out of you and makes you enjoy the material. Also, he does call on people randomly in class which a lot of people don't like but I think is really helpful for class discussions.

same amount of knowledge as every day political junkie, won't know answers to questions concerning anything but basic american politics discussed in newspapers. extremely biased politically. nice guy personally, but grades unbelievably hard. I'd be surprised if he's read half as many scholarly articles as other gov't profs. useless/fluffy lectures.

Professor Turner is excellent! He is extremely engaging in class lectures and makes dry material very interesting. Don't take this class for an easy grade, he makes you work but it is worth it in the end. Most who don't like him are grademongers-- you will do fine if you keep up with the readings.

Turner's GO 101 was agonizing. His teaching style is unimpressive, but he tries to make up for it with brutal grading. Took 3 other GO classes before his without a problem, but ended up withdrawing from his after 2nd test. If you're going to be a GO major, think carefully before taking this class - your average may suffer.

I love this man!! It's true he's an extremely hard grader, but my low grades were worth it for all that I got out of the class. He made me enjoy failing, if thats possible.
