Southall is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. Obviously if you don't study you won't do well...and if you're expecting to make it through college like that good luck. If you show him you care and are interested he will do everything he can to help you.

I took this class as a necessity for my major and because of this teacher I switched majors. He likes students who are smart and refuses to help students having trouble with the subject, no matter how hard they try or ask for help. He does not hesitate to call students rude names. He does not teach very well, so be prepared to learn on your own.

I'll be the first to say Southall isn't easy, but thats not what college is about. He makes a subject that I don't find interesting, extrordinarily intersting. I think he is a great teacher, but if you're not willing to put the time in, don't take him. Take biology or something else

Southall lectures period. If you don't study you WILL fail. This class is very time consuming and requires a lot of individual effort. My advice: switch to Beckner you'll be glad you did believe me!!

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can say he doesn't teach. Southall is an amazing professor but you really need to study to do well in the class. If you want to learn a lot and actually work take his class. If you want to be lazy.. don't!
