Comment:
I didn't look both ways crossing streets on my way to this class, in hopes that I would get hit by a car just so I didn't have to go. He just paces back and forth, muttering under his breath; he doesn't finish thoughts and has no clear definitions for the material he is attempting to teach. I found him to be rude and inconsiderate. Avoid.

I love English classes but this prof is inconsiderate, and condescending at the best of times. If you don't interpret things the way he does he thinks you're a dumb waste of his time. He assigned us 8 books and a course package for this class and made us write on every one of them and then cancelled 3 weeks worth of class without even a day warning

Rudest professor I have ever encountered. Expected 8 novels to be read in a single semester in addition to the course pack. Cancelled nearly half of our lectures due to his personal problems. Graded incredibly tough and feedback was not constructive, but rather humiliating. Normally an A+ English student, and struggling to stay afloat in his class.

Worst professor I've ever had. I love English classes but the rudeness of this professor ruined all redeemable aspects of the course. He only focused on philosophic elements of the texts studied, completely ignoring any other aspects of the texts we discussed in class. Did not treat students with respect; making for a very uncomfortable class.

Words would never be good enough to describe this professor. There is something about him that catches your attention from the very first class. He is smart, inspirational and I loved his sarcastic sense of humor. He always tends to go beyond the course material and relate it to contemporary life issues and that was interesting! Plus, he's so hot

Great guy, great class. The novels he picked made the theoretical material much easier to understand and connect with. Values individual thought over regurgitation. Lectures are profound, though abstract.

The things this man says will stick with you for life. Very interesting and challenging. I am not a "English" person, so my mark wasn't very strong. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone like me. Although fascinating, it wasn't worth the hit to my GPA. If it's your thang, you should be fine. Enjoy!

I actually enjoyed his lectures, although I know some students found them dry. He knows his stuff, and can seem a bit condescending at times, but he was never disrespectful. I went to his office to discuss one of my papers, and he was very approachable. Lots of reading but not too many assignments. Overall a good prof in my opinion.

Worst English experience of my life, and it's my Major. His lectures are incredibly boring and just plain dry, and does not explain things in a way that makes them easy to understand. He goes off on tangents all the time. Also a very hard marker on papers.

Great sense of humor, but it didn't come out until the last 2 weeks of class. I wasn't a huge fan of the books we studied, but he still managed to keep it interesting, and after a couple lectures the novels didn't seem quite so bad. He was VERY helpful with the final research paper.

I really liked this prof, he was very into theory and liked 'close reading'. The research paper was worth more than the final which seemed odd, but i like that the one i could spend more time on was the higher rated one. I liked his sense of humor, but he didn't use it until the last couple weeks of class.

Good prof, very helpful. Make sure you talk to him about your paper, otherwise you might be out to lunch. Likes to use theory! Lectures were mediocre, largely because people didn't read the books and thus class discussion suffered. He's not a lecture-type prof. He prefers class discussion. Has a quirky/eccentric sense of humour! Loved his class.

He is knowledgeable and a nice guy but class was just SO dry. Obviously English classes involve writing essays, but there are usually other assignments as well like creative projects and presentations. This class was 100% essay writing, the paper was worth more than the final, and it was boring. It made me hate English.

An utter ass. Makes up meaning that doesent exist. Pretends he is some sort of old fashioned english professor. Asks essay questions on **** topics. Relief only came after the final was finished and I could torch my textbook.

he's inteligent and knows what he's talking about, but he's also condescending and very spiteful towards students, his lectures are interesting but lack any real structure or direction, he makes a lot of inapropriate jokes and has a rather nasty and cynical sense of humor... youll either love this guy or hate him, personally i didnt really like him

Dr. Bucknell is an interesting prof. The theory in this class is very dull but the novels are interesting and fit well with the content. His lectures can go off on tangents and his articulation of his arguments can be slightly convuluted. His sense of humour is a little eccentric but it does improve the course content slightly.
