Comment:

This teacher is very unclear and vague. He is a very nice guy, and does curve test, but the test are really hard. You need to know economics and probably read the text, though I still refused, but if I had, maybe I would have made an A and not a B. Everyone seemed pretty frustrated in this class.

Comment:

Prof. Hoppes is a nice guy, but I really didn't like his teaching style. It's a lot of vague graphs, and he doesn't explain things well. I can usually get through classes without ever reading the book, but I had to read every chapter for this one. The upside is that he curves tests pretty heavily. I would try to take someone else though.

he tries to make the class enjoyable considering the content. the notes don't help on the test and quizes that much. quizes and tests are incredible hard. all i can say is good luck.

Prof. Hoppes tries to make this class as fun as it possibly can be. His quizes and tests are not hard--if you study! He keeps a copy of old tests on file at the library and online--they definately help you to study!

Great teacher in terms of discussions and debates; you do learn a lot of real world application in this class, but he does not prepare you very well for tests. The quizes are difficult but apply more to the lecture. You need to study the book for the tests b/c he gets the ?s from its test bank.

I liked this class, but it was very hard. The quizes were almost impossible, but the tests were a little bit easier...but they were still hard. I have heard that eco is hard no matter who you take...so I would recommend him.

Nice guy, means well, but very unclear. Half the class doesn't understand his assignments. His lectures really jump around and he assigns a lot of homework. Assignments don't take that long, but can be a pain. Tests are essay format and as long as you do homework and study, you'll do ok.

Dr Hoppes is the most pro-student professor I've seen yet at SMS. He'll do everything he can to give you the benefit. While his quizzes are very hard and tests are definitely difficult, he really tries to make the material understandable. Definitely don't miss out on taking one of his classes!

Micro was very difficult for me. I think he gives good lectures. And he tells you what you need for the tests. I wouldn't miss this class, but that's b/c I would've been lost if I had. Doesn't give much homework, just mainly quizzes and tests.Which aren't terrible if you understand the material.

HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. He is a very smart guy, and very funny, but assumes you know all the economics stuff. Tests are really hard, I barley passed this class.

Class is really hard. I think he is to smart to be teaching. He assumes that we know all of the economic jargon. He is an extremely nice guy, but really hard to do good in his class..even with his easy grading scale.
