Comment:
Brenda is an ok professor, but no where near the best (or worst!) at the U of S. she does give feedback on work, and while her lectures are boring, and she tends to go on personal rambles, they have all of the content they need. The textbook for this course is a waste of money if you go to lectures and take notes. I never bought it and I did well.

Don't even bother answering any of her questions, she will not take your opinion and publicly shut you down. There is no other answer but hers. There's videos for every class and she'll make 60% of the exam we exam question on them. Makes pointless stories about her husband and dog

Very rude, has interesting stories but when I tried to engage she just shuts me down and is very rude. Her tests are worded very oddly so you really have to decipher them to actually succeed. I would advise not to take this class with her, it just leaves me frustrated and very upset.

Brenda is okay, but going to class is a must if you want a good grade. She tests on the stories she tells in class and the topics she writes on the board. She also tends to be very bias towards things, and makes a show if it, but doesn't test on ALL of them, only some. Tests were multiple choice and had 2 small assignments. Overall a easy-ish class

I was really excited for this class, but I did not enjoy it. She talks over students she calls upon and goes off topic, essentially to brag about her own irrelevant achievements. Easy marker for written assignments, but it is impossible to miss one day of class without there being a specific verbal example being on the midterm/final from that day.

Class was okay,.. Teacher is a good story teller.. you better pay attention to every single detail of her stories and videos, half or the questions on the midterm and final are based on specific questions that you'd never expect. Honestly, I'd rather take that class with another prof.

Brenda is a very engaging prof. If you're looking to hide in a classroom corner and still get an 80-90, she isn't for you. Show up to class and be involved and you'll get a great mark.

As enthusiastic as she is, do not take this course from Brenda. Random stories you think will have to know but won't be tested on. Midterm was sort of fair, lots of stuff from textbook not covered in class. Just an overall painful class for an elective. Bio 120 was easier than her anthro class, tbh. Take Archaeology. Would not recommend to anyone.

She talks constantly over students who are speaking and seems to have a complete lack of respect for us and our opinions. Stories she uses as examples in class and things she suggests we look up outside of class will be on your exams, and you'd better not disagree with her or risk being brushed aside and made to feel like you are nothing.

I was so excited for anthropology, but Brenda Zeman made me hate it. She treats her students like they are children, and is constantly belittling the entire class and making them feel like they're stupid. She calls on students randomly, and if you don't agree with her opinion, she will "subtly" shut you down.

Brenda is a good prof with giving tons information on her slides and explaining them, but in her lectures but she tends to go a bit off topic and calls students out randomly and usually will disagree with them, she is very opinion based. class is mandatory, her stories she talks about is on the midterm and final.

Brenda is very enthusiastic about her field. She brings in interesting topics and videos. Her lectures are often a bit scattered and be prepared to be tested on random stuff she talks about in class. Take notes on what she says that isn't on the slide. Interesting and fun teacher but a bit random and quirky with her tests sometimes.

For first year anthro, Brenda is not a bad prof. Her lectures were a bit disorganized and she seems opinionated, but overall the content is very interesting and engaging. Sometimes midterm and final can be tough because she tests you on the books and facts she randomly tells you in class.

Great prof! It's obvious that Prof Zeman is very knowledgeable and passionate in her field from her great stories. However, you must go to lectures because some of the questions on her exams are from discussion, stories, and videos. Other than that, her exams are fair and the content is from the text. Also, she has quizzes to help boost your mark.

Comment:
The content is great, although the textbook and some of her opinions are a bit skeptical. If you don't mind her stories of her travels and her elitist attitude she has upon herself, than this class is not a waste. I would suggest another prof however, as a lot of the mid term and final content was not discussed in lectures or in the textbook.

The material for the class was interesting, and she's a fairly easy marker, but I left each class extremely frustrated. She speaks over students after randomly calling upon them, rambles on about ridiculous topics, and blames students if their responses to opinion questions aren't duplicates of her own opinion. Take 111 with another prof.

I don't understand most of the comments on here... She is an amazing professor who is very knowledgable in her field, but more importantly is incredibly passionate about it, which you can tell through her story-telling. The class really isn't hard if you actually go to class and read your text book... like any University student is supposed to do

Simply wonderful story-teller. She will interest you in her field, no doubt. Worth taking regardless of your intentions with Anthropology. Marks fairly. Is very open to discuss off-topic but typically brings it right back. Good sense of humour. Exciting class!

You really had to attend the lectures if you wanted to do well in this class. She does know what she is talking about, but her notes can be confusing sometimes. She tests a lot on the stories she tells in class, but if you go you should do well. Also she has quizzes that can really boost your mark!
