Dr. Galloway is FANTASTIC! He has a relaxed teaching style, and you can tell he has an unbridled passion for what he teaches. Tons of fun, very knowledgeable, flexible, helpful, funny, quirky. However, if you prefer classes with a very formal, rigid structure then he might not be for you.

I have taken 3 Ling classes from Brent and have loved all of them. He has a very different teaching style than many people may be used to, but he is incredibly knowledgable in linguistics. His classes are easy, class AVG, usually around 80 and you don't have to do a lot of work but somehow you really do learn a lot!!

well, the textbook is a waste of money. it's $50 worth of photocopied stuff from other books. also, quite possibly one of the easiest classes i've ever taken. sadly, i don't think i got much out of it at all aside from a great mark. the man loves his subject, but can't convey a thing in an interesting manner.

Mixed feelings. He's very knowledgeable with the material presented, but the way he presents is often difficult to follow. With no lecture notes prepared, he just reads through the textbook-- with much of the info not 'that important' to remember for exams. You end up not taking many notes but you leave the class with lots of knowledge. Weird.

Brent was a pretty good prof, but a little weird. If you take his class, make sure and memorize the midterm! He uses the midterm for the final, but adds more information to it. Not a bad class.

Brent is nice and super willing to help, but he is pretty flighty. He goes over material too many times. It is easy to get a really good mark in his classes, but watch out, he is pretty boring! Try not to have any classes scheduled after his, he alway runs late. He is a hippy at heart!
