Did not enjoy this class at all. The psychology of death and dying has so much potential to be interesting, but this felt more like a philosophy class. Brian's focus is way too much on religion rather than on psych. He seems like a really great guy who cares about his students, but his personality does not work well for a university professor.

He was an awesome guy, but in the end I don't think that his personality makes the course good or bad. There were three 8-10 page essays, the midterm was TWO in class essays, and the final was THREE in class essays. So many essays. If you don't like a lot of work, don't take this class. Psy 224, 227 and 255 only had one paper the entire term.

There were no notes posted for this class and he moved on quickly. I enjoyed the material he taught but it is hard to listen while you taking notes. There were three essays (8-10 pages) to write and the midterm and final were essay exams. He tells you the potential essay questions in advance. One field trip that was optional.

Amazing prof. I would take another class from him in a heart beat. Offers AMAZING feedback on assignments so that you can make the appropriate improvements to meet his rubric. Not shy to encourage the class to help each other out. Very accommodating when life throws you a curve-ball and you need some extra time.

I read the rates for Brian before I attended his class for psych 207 Jan-April 2016, and was terrified. There was really no point to be scared. Yes he does go through notes quickly, but he actually suggested that people message him through Whatsapp to tell him to slow down or ask questions. His marking is excellent as I write like a high school kid

Took his Psychology 207 course on Death and Dying. The topic itself I find was interesting. However, he is an extremely tough grader and generally blames you if you don't do well in his exams. He likes to read his notes and goes through them fast, so if you don't have a laptop you're in trouble.

Brian is a great prof who knows the material inside and out. He will make you feel uncomfortable about the topic of death throughout the term but always works into his lecture. He has 4 papers that are laid out quite straight forward but both his midterm and final are just essay questions and he wont curve the class ever.

He was a great professor and his classes were always enjoyable. Yes, you have to be present in class to make sure you take down his notes because he doesn't post his lectures, it's worth it. His lectures focus on how YOU can make a difference if someone you knew has passed or away or such. He gives us potential exam questions for finals and midterm

Lots of in class discussion. Very organized notes (doesn't post online though). Gives 4 papers but they are mostly based on opinion and they are only 7 pages each. Once you get your mark back from a paper you are able to rewrite it and get a better mark if you're not satisfied. Gave us the essay questions for the midterm. I like him.

This topic was very interesting however, the prof gave 4 papers and made everything over complicated. He did not answer questions clearly however the lectures were not bad. Could of been better class but not horrid. A lot of in class group stuff.

One of the most influential tchrs I've ever had.I took his 1st yr Psy & didn't go.When I was 2 hrs late for the final after writing the wrong one he was kind and undrstnding. Later, I took his class on dying and grief It was the depth of his comprehension of this material and the wisdom of experience he shared that I remember most from that class

Not particularily interesting, but he often let the class out early. All multiple choice are from the textbook..which is horrid. Tests are hard, but if you study you can do OK. Personality wise, he is a bit awkward and wierd....made me cringe a couple times - but is nice..i guess.

STAY AWAY. SERSIOUSLY. I took the class after reading the comments on rmp. Thought, oh i'll study hard so it'll be fine. Well you have to memorize every word from textbook. Do no try and put anything in you own words. Exceptionally arrogant, smiled and giggled in front of class because the class average was so low.Worst prof I've had in 4 years.

DO NOT TAKE FROM HIM!! i had a not bad mark in the class but he is absolutely horrible! He is an immature prof, doesn't care about anyone and he rushes through lectures and makes extremely hard tests. He should not be allowed to teach psych, he makes psych not interesting at all, i will never take a class from him ever again! do not take from him!

I will not take a class from him ever again. For his tests you must memorize the textbook, think with flawed logic, and neglect basic principles of science. Ever ask someone a simple question and then hear an endless stream of bs avoiding the point and leaving you completely dumbfounded? We got his jokes, they were just bad so no one laughed. ><
