Comment:
READ YOUR TEXTBOOK. It can very helpful and Tanya takes a lot from it, including test questions. Study whatever practice questions you can get even if they're different from her's. If she does iClicker be ready or you'll miss it and lose easy marks. She's a nice lady, but not the greatest prof so if you don't have to take her, then don't and wait.

Tanya is a very disorganized and confusing prof. She rarely tells you ahead of time what she expects from you which causes you to fail. The material isn't hard but her exams/assignments are and therefore it'll be difficult for some. Textbook helps because she doesn't. Overall would not recommend, you're better off with anyone else for BIOC

You will struggle and it'll be very difficult. It upsets me that this class caused so much trouble for so many, but I know I will not be taking BIOC 221 because of her. Midterms are very difficult and assignments rarely helped and her iClicker didn't work well so those were easy marks lost. The best thing you can do is study and pray for the best.

I'm giving her a hard no simply for the assignments. The dictionary assignment was never properly outlined, and the iClicker system was very slow. Very smug and unfunny prof, will laugh at criticisms instead of changing her behavior. I will not be taking BIOC 221 or any other course with her.

Expects you to jump through hoops for marks. Her iclicker reef is so laggy that you'll lose marks for no reason. On top of that she assigns a dictionary assignment inwhich half of the definitions are nowhere to be found. Overall sloppy and uncoordinated teacher. Do not take.

Wonderful person, extremely brilliant, wants you to succeed, but poor lecturer in the sense that the notes do not correlate to the assignments, which in turn do not correlate to the exams. Term tests are very difficult, with low averages. Super kind and clear teaching in office hours, but in class I struggled to comprehend or learn anything.

She taught the first third of my chem class. But overall her lectures were interesting enough to retain the information. I did read through the textbook quite in depth for her midterm (and found that the intro chem book is pretty awesome) because I had been warned that she pulls questions from it, but was surprised to find all questions from slides

What a horrible professor she was. She pretty much read directly out of the textbook, but changed some minor things to make the answers completely wrong. I have absolutely no idea why I even came to any of her classes since I learned everything directly from the text book.

Made me fall in love with Biochemistry. She's a lovely professor- extremely passionate about her subject, 100% open to helping students (go to office hours!), and clear on her expectations on what you need to learn to be successful in her class. The work is tough, though! Weekly assignments, a weekly lab, 2 midterms, and a long final. Study hard!!

She's a good professor and her lectures are clear. Her assignments are brutal, but the answers are usually in the textbook. She claims that her final is easier then the term tests and assignments but that's a LIE! Her final was ridiculously difficult! I would take a class by her again, but study way harder for that final.

Fantastic professor! Crystal clear in lectures, and always available and willing to help outside of class. The exams can be tough, but study hard and you'll do fine. Assignments require some independent learning. Midterm was harder than the final. DEFINITELY recommend this professor!

The best BIOC prof. Don't waste time with other profs. Not only do you have to know the material but you have to apply it, on her assigts. No memorizing, just understanding. Take home final. She gets excited and might be confusing. V. approachable.

Great prof. very knowledgeable and wants students to do well. Will always explain anything unclear in or out of class time. Had her for BIOC220 and 221, which I thought she was also a great prof in. The material is more challenging so have to work for your grade (shocker) but definitely able to do well. Would recommend her for sure.

I enjoyed the course material, but Dahms trolled more than she allowed us to learn. She is very intelligent, knows what she is talking about, and she explains it quite well. The problem is, there is a small correlation between her notes and the exams. It's doable to get a good mark, but it's hard to actually gain something from the class. Have fun!

What you see is what you get -- she only ever tests on the slides and what is on the WebCT. The class was really easy, I aced the midterms without studying. She seems really bored with the lecture material, like she'd rather be doing research than teaching med students. She does not like to be wrong.

She's a fairly good teacher, but her problem is that everyone of her assignments and tests are about things she has yet to cover. Her marking is brutal, and she expects mastery in everything she doesn't even cover in the slightest. She really pissed me off with that, good marks are hard to come by in her class mostly. Was helpful outside class tho.

She asks a lot. But she cares about students, and she will help you succeed if you want to put the work in. Interesting class. I would rate her in the top half of profs I have had.
