I took a bunch of classes with Brian for my BA in Anth. I purposely signed up for his classes, cuz I really like phys anth and cuz I really liked Brian. His lectures are not exciting, but they're clear, well organized and cover everything on a test. ASK QUESTIONS! He's got some pretty cool stories, but you need to ask questions to get them :)

This class is mostly about lithics. Just so you know. If you don't like that stuff, don't take it. BRIAN IS A TERRIBLE LECTURER. But he's a very nice guy and he's quite relaxed about late papers, topics, etc. His quizzes don't make any sense and are very confusingly marked. HE'S REALLY DRY. You'll have to do a lot of self learning.

Brian is a really nice guy, but HIS LECTURES ARE TERRIBLE. Just a warning to you. He's dry, never engages students, repeats himself and is very unclear. You will have to do a lot of your own learning here. But he does care about what he's teaching, oddly. He's just a dinosaur.

Great prof, his lectures are a little bit dry but he is a blast to talk during office hours. He is a fair marker, and most midterm/exam/assignment questions are based off of his powerpoints.

It was dumb that we pretty much had to learn millions of years of history because we had no idea what we would be tested on. I probably studied more for this class than any other in my life. But he made the subject interesting, and was good at understanding and answering questions.

Very knowledgable and very easy to talk to regarding paper proposals or what not. Lectures were interesting... quizzes were a bit hard as there was a lot of material to learn and only one or two questions asked. Not really an easy marker, but he's not an unfair marker either.

Chisholm is a really nice guy, really approachable and has always been really understanding if 'stuff' comes up. He's a little disorganized (forgetting his notes, forgetting his slides), his tests are marked ambiguously (how'd I get this grade?!). I always found this course to be my most demanding this term (3 tests, no exam/midterm) and projects

Very interesting couse if you study on your own. multiple choice section of the midterm kills. unexperienced TAs are very unhelpful in my section we had to do 3o min presentation for each chapter (waste of time) nobody listens. unorganized notes. The Prof is a good guy, but hey I dont care !!!!!!!!!

Dr. Chisholm is a great guy, humorous and laid back. Lectures aren't the most entertaining but he tries to throw in a few jokes. Assignments are relevant and help you learn the material. Very reasonable expectations for exams. Textbook is highly technical but you don't need to know any details. Great prof for BioAnth.

Great man, not the best teacher. He's funny and understands students. Disorganized but does not expect it of you. Exams vary, typically they are relevent. If you show an interest in the class he will take an immediate liking to you. Go to him during office hours just to talk - he loves that.

Brian Chisholm cannot teach, plain and simple. He is a nice and knowledgeable man, but his lectures are boring and uninformative. Even though the textbook for the class is awful, it is easier to understand then Chisholm. All of the test material comes from the textbook, so you might as well not attend class. Most of the assignments are pointless, t

Although the year began very promising, interest waned very much toward the end. Apparently he was busy with many projects and though that may be the case, class really suffered. TAs were good though, and assignment easy. Don't be fooled by in-depth notes and lecture, the textbook is where the tests come from.

He's a nice guy but not a very good Professor. His lectures are all on powerpoint and available on WebCT, so you don't even have to come to class. To prepare for exams, all you really have to do is read the textbook because his lectures don't really help... His assignments are lame but easy.
