Comment:
Hardest class I've taken. If you struggle with chem, you will struggle. Groh is a very caring, quirky, and approachable guy but getting through his class is killer. He goes way too quickly & his exams will really kill. It's a very challenging course. He does curve thankfully. And do as much clicker, mastering, and lab points to get your grade up.

He definitely knows his stuff, but is not the best at teaching it. I am not very good at chemistry myself, so maybe thats why I had such a hard time, but he really just confused me more than anything. Talking to him in his office hours didnt really help either. Wouldnt recommend taking if you dont have to

Dr. Groh is a tough professor but a great one also. He is super nice and willing to help you if you show that you care and want to learn. He is a really great at working with his students outside of class.

Dr. Groh is a really nice guy and a great chemist. But, all he does is through theory at you at an extremely rapid pace. Then expects you to solve problems for the test, even though he have barely solved any. If I am going to be tested on my ability to solve problems, solve problems in class. Seems simple enough but few professors do it.

Dr. Groh is a very fast pace professor. He definitely knows what he's talking about, but his tests are difficult. I would recommend studying out of the textbook and then attempt to do the homework he assigns without using any resources. The class is tough so expect to study a lot! Otherwise he's a super nice guy and overall a good professor.

Groh is a soft spoken man, so sit in the front of class. He reads right from the slides and doesn't use many examples.

Dr. Groh was a very entertaining teacher, but his tests were very difficult. You have to be able to write out all the reactions, and reading the chapters is very helpful. Dr. Groh did curve everything which saved my grade in his class. Overall he was a good teacher for a super tough class.

Comment:
He is clearly smart & knows what he is talking about, but when he lectures I get the feeling that he expects you to know all the background information & he just moves right on through & so fast with the information that it can be hard if you don't have a good background. Also, he can be VERY condescending which bothered me a lot. He's nice though.

The quizzes are very difficult, but he curves the grades. As long as you study and do the mastering chem problems and the problems at the back of the chapter in the book, you'll do fine.

He is your typical quantity over quality teacher just throws you everything and expects you to figure it out without much guidance. We had a classroom of 9 people and ended with 7 test averages were below 70 percent which is pathetic. I would wait for another teacher the. Take anything with him unless you want to waste hours of your day.

Best teacher at MSU. The class is pretty hard but if you have to take a DAT or MCAT he will prepare you for it. If you need help he is more than willing to lend a hand. Highly recommend this professor.

This class was very difficult. We took a quiz almost once a week and class averages were around 50%. He sped through the material. I didn't retain any information. Luckily he curves a lot. I got a C+ and worked my but off to get that grade.

Dr.Groh is one of the most intelligent professors I've encountered at MSU. I have complete confidence in his abilities. He is nice and is willing to help. He expects a lot, as he should. He moves very quickly so be prepared, this is not a slack off course!!! Our section of organic finished the semester 6 whole chapters ahead of Dr. Lusch's class.

his class was quite challenging. he is a good prof though, explains well, lectures well, and is pretty helpful. learned a ton in his class, many more chapters than the other section. you'l need to work prety hard to get an A, and decent for a B. study before hand, and keep revising the material, then you should do well, and get an A or B.

VERY difficult course but would sit down with you until you got it. Has many cool stories and often side tracks. Generally will curve tests in upper level classes and the class can usually persuade him to change due dates and test days.

Dr. Groh is very fun and interesting to listen to. He really makes you want to learn the information. He moves VERY quickly but you just have to be really dedicated to the class. He might not be the easiest but if you need this class for future classes you will learn the most from him.

I LOVE ORGANIC! I hated the Chen Chem series, but the Org Chem series was probably the best set of courses I have ever taken on this campus. Dr. Groh is so amazing and helpful, any time I went to him with questions he was willing to help. He also gets through way more material in the class than the other prof!

VERY good instructor. He's very helpful and comprehensive in his teachings. He goes quickly and some times it's easy to get lost in all the material, but with any other instructor teaching orgo it would be impossible. I recommend him to anyone.
