Job is the most amicable, pleasant human being I have had the pleasure of taking a class with. He has such a lovely demeanor, sense of humour, and well thought out teaching approach. This is a man who cares, who knows how to communicate he cares, and ensures the success of his students. Truly an asset to this department.

This was my favourite class this semester. Job and this course re-inspired my passion for pursuing my major. You will learn tons with Job in this course. You simply cannot skimp out on the readings and expect to do well, but it is all for the best because they will teach you a lot! Take this course! You will value every minute of learning with Job.

Clearly had favourites among the class. Always felt ignored. Other students were given more time to speak during office hours even when they didn't have an appointment. Did not set clear guidelines on how to excel. Also, horrible TA who does not understand nuance at all and marks arbitrarily despite giving out a high number of meaningless comments.

Reading load is light + Ppts are posted online + Assignments are easy + Instructions/criteria are clear. As far as accommodation goes, hard to beat Prof. Job @ UBC. If you know a lot about East Asian IR, this course will be super easy. I wasn't an expert but I found it pretty chill. Not overly exciting but pretty good course overall.

Super interesting class. Dr. Job focuses on many countries in SE Asia. He is funny and super smart. He doesn't care if you come to lecture. Never went to his office hours but he answered my e-mails 30 min every time I emailed him. Also only 3 shorts papers no huge term paper. Took the stress down during paper time as a Poli major

Wonderful prof! Very knowledgable and eager to help students. The content was challenging and the pace was fast yet he did an excellent job of making it salient.

Eventhough it was my lowest mark of the year (A-), he was definitely my favorite teacher! Interest lectures, good seminars, quick marking and no text book to buy!

i agree with the last comment. final weighted too heavily, had to know too many fine details, and not reflective of your actual understanding of the material. interesting readings but there are a lot and you should do them all. a nice man and interesting to talk to one on one.

All around good Prof. Very approachable and helpful. Most of my complaints are with the course and not the man. The final was weighted too heavily. The course was overloaded with material so you could be a jack of all trades but master of none. Reading package was très cher. In fact it was unacceptably expensive. Job picked excellent case studies

Great class. exams were very hard but papers easy. lots of reading but all interesting, will have to read selectively though. I didn't find the lectures that helpful but everyone else seemed to.

Amazing professor - I highly recommend him, and this course. He's a really nice guy, and his lectures are very engaging. Exams and papers can be challanging, but at the same time he prepares his students well so it's not like there's anything unexpected.

Reputable Prof in UBC International Relations; lectures could be a bit more smooth; not the world's greatest public speaker; can be a bit demanding in his exams and papers... He is a prof that can challenge his students
