Bruce is a very inspirational speaker, and has made me truly fall in love with sociology. Although, you are being marked by very few things and those few things are severely toughly graded, almost in a way that's unrealistic for first years. Despite that i still enjoyed his class and each lecture was less of a class more of an experience.

Honestly, bruce is the reason I am majoring in Sociology. his lectures make sociology so interesting and although the intimidation of a large intro class can get to you, the TA's he has are great! Gives the exam questions two weeks prior and legit has the most straightforward grading criteria, not too hard of a class!

This is a great class and Bruce is an amazing prof. This was my hardest course, but it was also my favourite course; and I think that says something about Bruce and his teaching style. The midterms are tough but since the questions are asked before hand, you get time to prepare. Bruce tells great stories, and has interesting lectures. Thanks Bruce!

He treats lectures like inspirational speeches. I found him to be rude and make jokes at the expense of some students just to get a laugh from others. The text book he provides, which he wrote, is not helpful and I find myself constantly looking elsewhere for clarification. He was ignorant and had unrealistic expectations for a first year course.

Intimidating professor until you get to know him. I hardly went to lectures and didn't read the books. If you study and know your material for midterms and tests, you will ace them. I had a day and a half to study for the final and ended up getting a 97% because I studied the material he told us to study. AMAZING lectures. SUPER helpful.

I don't care what anyone says, this class is a terrific class. Although you have to work at it, his lectures could not be better and he uses humour everyday to teach us. Honestly my favourite class! Take this class because its so interesting. He goes over and beyond to help out any student

hard, midterm kills you, final is worse, don't consider taking it if you want easy credits. lectures are interesting but not necessary. You can do well if you study his textbook because he wrote it. Not the best experience for me

Incredibly arrogant prof. More interested in hearing his own voice and having students reiterate word for word than actually expecting students to live sociologically. He's stuck in dated concepts. HATED his course. Knowing I would have to take the next level from him had ended sociology for me.

Life changing. His lectures are unbelievable! Engaging, interesting and I found myself actually looking forward to going! Yes, his tests and assignments are hard, but he makes him self available to go through it with you and help you as much as possible. I'm finished post secondary now and he was by far my favorite prof. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Very helpful and approachable. If you show initiative in this class you'll do well. If you have any problems with your marks or with material, he is more than willing to help and accommodate. Attendance is not mandatory but you will have to know class discussions for midterm/final.

Bruce was by far one of the most inspiring professors I have ever had. Attendance is not mandatory, however, it is highly recommended. The amount of effort he puts into his lectures is extensive and you stand to learn a lot from just going to class. The mid term and final exam were not difficult but he expects very thorough answers.

He actually wrote the textbook we used. Brilliant professor and one of the most well spoken I have ever had. Some material isn't the most exciting but he has fun with it and loves class participation. Highly recommended to anyone interested in Sociology. Must go to every class to understand the concepts though, he asks for every thorough answers

His class is amazing!!! I learned so much that it doesn't even bother me that I'm not doing well. Dont use his class as gpa booster like all other intro to sociology classes. Use it for his stories and as an experience you will never forget!
