He knows his stuff but he clearly has no idea on how to teach electrical engineering to non-electrical majors. Spends too much time on the easy things and barely skims through the harder concepts. If you're not in ELEC, YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HIM. Find a copy of the textbook to make sense of what he's tryna say.

Comment:
The textbook is by far the best resource you can have in this course. Prof. Plett teaches out of the coursepack, which is rife with errors, typos, and general unhelpfulness in most sections. This isn't his fault, but his lectures are dry and he doesn't manage the class, ie it's very loud and he does nothing about it. Friendly and approachable.

Great Prof! Really cares about his students, wants you to understand the material and will repeat it if necessary. Review lectures were great, office ours were easy to schedule. The course is notoriously difficult but if you put the effort in throughout the semester you can come out with a decent grade. (I had a 60-65% attendance)

Probably one of the best profs I have had in Carleton. He's very helpful and polite and easy to talk to. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but be specific. I don't really like the material, but he laid it out clear enough that I can pass.

Overall One of the best Profs in Carleton . He honestly shows that he cares about his students as he is always available to speak too , comes to check up on students in lab and holds review classes before midterm and final . Fair midterm and Fair final . His marking is super fair and generous, 10/10 Professor in every way .

He is a good professor, the midterm and exam are pretty straight forward just do several practices exams that very with difficulty and you should do fine. The labs are long but do-able, just give them enough time so that you can complete them. Taking this class teaches you a lot, and being organized and ready is one of those things.

This course is probably the hardest course I have ever taken and it had the most work. The lab reports are super long, about 50 pages. The prelabs also take forever to do. This prof teaches by just going through the theory from the notes. Make sure to go to his review lectures as that's when he actually shows how to solve the problems.

Good prof, love the dry wit he provided us on the daily. Seriously though one of the best courses I've taken at CU. Final was decently tough though so just a heads up.

Very helpful both in lectures and labs. Shows up to lab to check up on students. Wants you to succeed in his class and understand the material. Final exam was fair. I ended up with only an A because I bombed the 1st assignment, but I still learned a lot. Thank you!

Good speaker, but can often go too fast, especially if you're only "mostly competent" in analog like I am. Just take your time when you study. He provides very good help in the lab and outside class. But... without a doubt the 4505 exam was the single most difficult exam I have EVER taken.

Good teacher, material is hard. Study from past exams. He is openly provides then with solutions (like most profs should) however the solutions are questionable. Hard labs but he tries to help, and you can learn from them for a change. Very friendly and open, willing to help in any way. Will give advice and direction with your future.

Although he is quite reknowned in his field, and obviously knows his stuff, he often makes life difficult for the students. He has two types of people: those who are useful to him and those that are not. The lowly undergrad does not get much of a learning experience for the tuition $

Good text. Organized notes. Assignments & exam both hard. Very serious guy, doesn't joke around at all, but reasonably helpful when you ask a question in class. Gotta study your butt off, though.
