Calvin is an amazing professor! He's super nice and very helpful; he just wants you to grow as a writer, so his feedback matters! He's lenient with handing in workshopping assignments, I find, but you must hand in your reading responses. Participation matters a lot in this class, so be prepared!

Professor Wharton is one very terrific professor. He's a very fair marker on the assignments in the course. He helped me improve my writing and he is such an inspirational person. Two scene and two story assignments, story reports (very short-couple sentences long), short reading response essay and participation. Take it with him!

Father Wharton is a kind/scary fellow in the classroom. He's funny, strict, and groovy. I feel that if you don't follow the method taught in class, you will fail and your poetry will suck as much as it did before. So listen to him and your classmates, and you will get along swell with this prof.

Although called an 'Introduction to Poetry' be warned that this professor only appreciates 'contemporary' poetry, something which suffocated my sense of creativity. Don't bother using poetry as an outlet as you are required to have 'imagery' in your poem. NO: I like him YES: My bumpy red blood cells contort when my retinas drink in his visage.

An easy class, and helped me improve my writing. A really nice teacher, but kind of quiet. He really hates when people talk over him. Lots and lots and LOTS of workshopping, so don't take it if it isn't your thing. Helps you elevate your writing beyond emo-tastic whining.

Very fun class. Be prepared to add to the discussion and you'll get on his good side. He doesn't like ramblers though, so ppl who like to take the stage and talk for 15 mins about what they think BE WARNED. I am with Calvin again this semester for 2350 and i love his classes!!! best ever. would HIGHLY reccomend if you're into creative fiction.

He's an awsome prof and keeps an open mind about students' work. all crwr classes (calvins or otherwise) require workshopping, but he's fair and takes into consideration students' feelings about their work. overall it's a much easier class if you listen to what he's saying: he has a ton of experience in the field and knows what he's talking about.

I love Calvin! His class was always fun and interesting. Calvin is also a very nice and sweet guy. He extended deadlines for us a couple of times throughout the semester. Class can get dry as you workshop every class, but it's easy to do well in this class, and I found it very enjoyable.

I felt that he isn't very open minded to some things, and sometimes can be quick to generalize. I didn't like the fact that we had to print off so much paper off either. I didn't enjoy this class, and didn't find it very helpful.

second time around with calvin. man, he's so great. as long as you're interested in writing, he's the best teacher you'll ever have. just dont be a bad student and use your laptop through the workshops. obv you dont need it to review a short story.
