Carl is an AMAZING professor. He is kind, funny and really cares about the students. He will answer your questions until you understand. Show up to class, pay atleast 65% attention and take notes and you will at minimum get a B. He makes it that simple for you. He always replies to emails. The way he teaches makes you WANT to learn. 1 in a million

He is an amazing lecturer and is very funny during class. I used to bug him at least once a day with questions, since i was not getting the material, and he was incredibly helpful and never seemed bothered by my constant questions.

Carl is a really good professor. I had a different professor during the first term and it made me hate the class, but when it switched to him the class got so much better. He gives off the vibe that he genuinely cares about students and wants you to succeed! The only thing is he doesn't post notes online so you need to go to class

By far the best prof I have experienced at the U of M. His lectures are thought provoking and informative. Despite the class being large (70+), Matheson creates an environment that encourages class participation and students to ask questions for clarity. He's funny, brilliant and genuinely kind. Take his class.

Lectures are fun and involving, not to mention mind blowing. He clearly loves his job and it shows. Focuses on ideas more than specific philosophers or works. This class made me seriously consider getting a useless, useless philosophy major.
