It is too bad that Dr. Mosk is retiring. He definitely offered interesting courses, and lectures were good. He was also a very fair marker, and assigned interesting readings in preparation for the final exams.

When it comes to textbooks, I recommend just buying the Findlay and O'Rourke book, the course pack, and one of the two other ones, and hope that you make a friend that buys the book you didn't get. Definitely coming to class is a must. He can be hard to follow sometimes so get as much as you can and maybe record the lectures so you catch it all.

Carl's lectures can be a bit confusing to follow, but if you write down everything he says - not just what he writes on the board - and study that for midterms, you will be fine. The supplementary readings were really great. He really knows his stuff, and test are more than fair.

Wow: he's an expert in economic history, and he clearly knows the field extremely well. Also, if you put in the work, you should be able to get the mark you want. Although he's an amazing professor, I'd say if you're not interested in Economic History, I'd avoid the classif you took the course as a blow off it might be hard to get a decent mark.

Amazing professor. Had him for two classes and wish that I could have taken more with him. Very clear instructions about how to do well on tests, and light wordload. Just make sure to go to lecture.

Prepare for dense lectures and cryptic econ terminology. Expect pleeeenty of assigned reading (2 econ books worth), consider them optional. He explains what pages (50pgs) the TF section of the test covers . The essay portion of the tests are based on the lectures. Grab main concepts from lectures, review concepts before tests, and you're golden.

His lectures can be dry but Mosk is clearly loves what he teaches. If you go to class and understand what he is mumbling about, you will find the course relatively straightforward! Exams consisted of T/F qns (taken from the text) and essays. Got a pretty satisfactory mark although I could have done better! I intend to take another class with him!!!

His lectures are hard to follow but overall a pretty easy course. One midterm and a final with T/F and an essay which he marks pretty easy. I've taken three courses with him and would highly recommend him!

Great professor, an unbelievably intelligent man. Lectures are usually interesting and will certainly help with the midterm essay questions. Simple T/F questions are a nice break from the usual testing methods too. A good class to take if you want an econ course without any quantitative work.

Obviously very intelligent, if not brilliant, but he is a very poor lecturer who is hard to follow along with during class. He will go off on crazy tangents and scribble over three chalkboards then look at the class and start rambling on about monopolies (which is actually pretty entertaining). Makes up for this by creating very simple exams.

the material is boring but worse of all, he is very scattered with lecture notes. He writes all over the board with no structure...but he's nice and very smart..just not very interesting or clear

Thorougly enjoyed his class. He will intrigue you if you like economic thought. I know he may be eccentric but it just add to the fun (once, he was expressing his rage over the unfair prices of BC ferry..gosh, HE WAS REAL MAD)

He's obviously passionate about the material. I barely used the textbook but it is required, just skimmed the readings before the tests and did well. He pretty much tells you exactly whats going to be on the midterm and final so as long as you have the class notes (which he does not post online) you will do just fine.

Mosk is a very entertaining professor. You can tell that he is very passionate about what he teaches, and that he is very knowledgeable. I don't understand how people think he is a bad professor! He practically gives you everything you need to know for the midterms and finals! For a university course it is really easy!

Mosk is the BEST! His classes are so easy to get a good grade in, all you have to do is know how to write essays, listen in lectures so that you have material for the essay questions, read the pages he gives you for the T/F questions, and voila an A+. His lecture style is a little scattered, but all in all it's definitely understandable.

His lecture style is very scattered, although its supposed to be an economics history class, very little material in his lectures pertained to the topic. A lot of Japanese cultural stuff that had essentially nothing to do in the class was discussed in his lectures. Fairly easy class if you stay on top of the readings. Midterm is challenging.
