I took professor McCann's class 2 years ago and I miss that class so much! I have never attended a more fun, interesting, informative class. The material covered has real life applications, there is a lot of reading but it's all interesting and the tests are reflective of the in-class and text materials. I highly recommend this prof he's amazing!

Great prof! Good start to first year student who take his class. His lectures are interesting and fun. No exams, only 5 tests throughout the year; all multiple choice questions. He gives easy/silly bonus questions in his tests: ex. what is his son's name? I would highly suggest to take this intro to psyc class with him.

Lectures are very interesting, however it makes up a small portion of the test so you can get away with skipping a few classes. I got an A after making notes based off the textbook and studying at least one week before. Hardly used the concept charts but Mindtap is great when you don't want to lug a heavy textbook around campus.

Doug is an amazing prof. His tests are all multiple choice, super easy, and there was no final exam. He does skeleton slides so you have to attend class in order to get correct notes. There is a lot of reading but if you used the textbook, concept charts and his notes you will get an easy A.

He does skeleton slides, gives you fill in the blank slides and gives answers during class. MUST ATTEND CLASS if you want A. MUST HAVE TEXTBOOK, 90% of info is from book. 5 tests, 3 chapters per test, 50 pages per chapter. Do not leave last minute. Attend class, read book, make notes, read notes, do bonus marks. Easy A but you have to work for it

This is a class that I looked forward to each week because of how interesting the lectures were. I learned about so many useful topics. If you pay attention during lectures, study the textbook and powerpoints in detail (a lot of reading), you should do really well in his class. Tests are all multiple choice with little to no tricky questions.

Great Prof! Lectures are very interesting and he always jokes around. The tests are all multiple choice but you have to read all the chapters and attend all classes, because he shows videos in class and some questions on the test are based of this. Very easy to do well if you just come and sit in class and read ALL the pages, even the case studies!

Super nice, always answers questions in class. Tests are all MC, very simple, gives hints about what may be on them, 80% textbook 20% lectures. HAVE to read textbook in order to pass this course, readings are heavy but an easy pass if you do read, generally gives out pages not to read, what to focus on. Got an A, highly recommend!

Professor Mccann's really lecture heavy. He puts specific things from class on tests, so if you don't go you definitely won't get too high a mark. He's really cool and tries to make the class interesting. Really great class.

He's a super great guy... BUT His power points are choppy and make no sense (even after filling in the blanks). Mark is based off 5 multiple choice tests. No room to level out through application of an assignment, so if you don't do well on multiple choice drop the course. I unfortunately wish I had chosen a diff. prof despite his good personalty.

Professor McCann is a ok professor but I find psych 1010 to have way too much reading for a 1st year course and his evaluations are difficult as he bases most of the questions from the readings and less on the lecture material.

Great prof! By far my favourite lecturer at York University. He makes his students want to attend lecture and keeps them engaged throughout. For a psych course that is very heavy with reading, he does a good job of pulling out the important points in lecture and displaying them in a fun and memorable way. Would recommend!

he has a great personality and gives off a good vibe but his lectures and powerpoints are the most useless things ever it is crucial to go home and read your entire textbook for the class, because you will learn NOTHING from his lecture complete waste of time to go to his class you would benefit much more from reading the text book alone

A good professor. His lectures are interesting. He wrote the textbook, so expect to read about 100 pages per lecture. The readings were too heavy for a first year course. He posts skeleton slides, so you have to attend lecture in order to fill in the blanks.

I did very well in this class, but I honestly thought it was WAY too much work for a first-year class. The readings were intense and dense for a first year course. This course can really dampen your spare time and drag you down in other courses if you do not have your schedule planned out well. Prepare to read a lot. Grading is toughfor SA ques.
