Very tough grader, but he knows what he is talking about. Be sure to always be in class because you will miss a lot if you skip a class. Make sure you always read the homework assignments because he will most usually give a reading quiz. Overall not bad, but not the best.

He's a good dude. There's a lot of quizzes which are only reading checks and are extremely easy if you read the stories, so it's easy to bring up your grade. I thought I bombed my first exam and ended up with an 82. He's extremely cynical in a funny way and likes to relate stories to everyone's eminent demise, inciting groans from various students.

Although he is a challenging grader, he knows what he is talking about. He pushes for students to go above what is expected to pass the class. I am a junior now reflecting on this class from my freshman year. I am an A student and my worst grade in my college career was in his freshman composition class. AVOID! He is the hardest professor I have ever had and it takes a lot for me to say that. You can go above and beyond for him and he will not give you an A. I promise you.

Interesting and smart but with an ego so large it's almost funny. Difficult grader, no respect for other's opinion, and in his own words strives to be an "uninspirational teacher." If you're looking for a challenge with no reward, this is your class

the teacher ive disliked the most. EXTREMELY high expectations and is hard when grading. Attendance policy is ridiculous and if you come unprepared (dont have a book, havent done the reading) he counts as an absence. More than 2 absences and hell lower your grade atleast a half letter. DO NOT TAKE HIM if you have another option

For the love of god do not take this guy. Worst teacher I have ever had. Mid term is impossible, final just as hard. Dont even think about an A. You will never get an A on his papers either. Hes arogant if you ask a question. Never even consider this class, you learn nothing of fiction anyway besides ruining good stories by analyzing them.

I LOVED this class, & the anti-santa. The syllabus was a little hard to figure out at first, & it's def a unique class, but just do the work & you'll get an A for listening to all his stories. You don't even know how much you've learned until you're done with the class. I highly recommend taking this class, & there's a pizza party for a final.

After reading all the reviews on here I was pretty scared of what I was getting into. However, if you arent expecting a high grade, you show up, participate, and do average work, he will pass you.

I'm writing one of his papers now and hating it with a passion. this guy is ridiculous. NEVER EVER TAKE HIM. i like reading the books but when we go over them in class he makes me absolutely hate them. an hour and fifteen minutes never seemed so long. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
